All one needs to do is search the archives and find pages upon pages of debate and argument over whether the Sprint Booster is a preferred mod to the XFire or not. The debate usually ends with " don't take my word for it. Find someone who has one installed, drive their vehicle and decide for yourself " !
For me personally, wouldn't wanna be without one !

Just my Dos Centavos !

I'm sure it makes driving the Crossfire more fun. I agree that driving a Crossfire equipped with the Sprint Booster would make a you a believer. It's just nice that someone has gone to the trouble to document, methodically, with and without the Booster, what is acually happening during the process of pressing on the gas pedal.

I guess the point to ponder is, do I want to spend that much money for a perceived result ? It's too bad Chrysler/Mercedes didn't program the throttle response that way in the first place.

BINGO ! It's that 300 dollar price tag that is actually at the bottom of this issue !
It's only money Chuck ! Can't take with ya when you're gone ! Might as well enjoy it now !

I find that the SL55 intake and a 181mm pulley gives LOTS of response to the throttle. Think.."bat out of hell"....I take it in for a dyno tomorrow.

One could shorten their pedal and get a similar result. Shorter lever equals less throw and less time to get WOT.

Huh ? how would you go about that on a fly by wire system ? Just curious !

Shorten the actual pedal lever(cut it)

So there is a lever that operates a potentiometer attached to the pedal ?
I don't remember a lever when I had the thing apart installing the SB

I've slept since then

Or reattach the pedal closer to the sensors axis. Then the amount of foot movement formerly needed to reach 50% travel would make the sensor lever hit 100% throttle.

I"m with Valk on this one, it was the best money I spent on my crossfire. My wife putts around town from time to time in it and I would get in it and it would act like a 4 banger from time to time. I also noticed that even if I put the pedal to floor it would sometimes take off like a turtle. Since I installed the sprint booster it runs like a sports car like it should. I really don't care how it works but that it does improve the fun factor in my car. If I had to do it again I'd buy it in a heart beat.

The effect of the SB is simply to provide us with a "quick action throttle" Any motorcyclists out there will know about this, full throttle is achieved with reduced twistgrip, (or in this case car throttle pedal) movement. Overall I like the feel of the SB, but note that the delay is still disappointingly present due the fly by wire design. It helps to re set the trottle now and again.
Only way to cure this is to rip it all out and start again, with a nice big four barrell Holly carb up on top!

personally I like the OEM throttle smoothing vs the Sprint Booster. Oem throttle is easier on the drivetrain, and revs plenty fast once you learn how the throttle operates.

I have two caddy's with drive by wire and do not have any of the crossfire issues with them. Lag or sluggish acceleration.

That's what I discovered - There's the Granny driving the MB to Church mode - easy on the engine, great for in town driving and good gas mileage.

And then there's the Grandson borrowed the AMG for a joy ride.

Once you learn to how to switch between modes, the throttle is very responsive.

there isnt a person on this planet that can tell me that the SB didnt make a noticable difference. i felt it from the first tiny little acceleration i made! i barely had to touch it and it would make my head hit the seat.
