Default Radio Shack chirp vs OEM siren chirp

I just wanted to post the difference between the (corfire) mod of the Radio Shack buzzer chirp vs the new OEM siren alarm chirp for lock/unlock. I had installed the Radio Shack buzzer about 2 months ago to get my car to chirp when locking. I removed it today when I took in my car to get the new siren installed under warranty. The new siren chirp sounds the same as the radio Shack buzzer. The tone and loudness are identical. So if you are planning on doing this mod. save yourself $50.00+ for a new siren and get the Radio Shack buzzer. It takes about 15 minutes to install and the results are the same.

Hello! Do you have a part number for the item that you purchased from Radio Shack? I need to go that route myself. Thanks!

I have used 3 different buzzers from Radio Shack. Anything under 90db was just not loud enough for me. The more expensive $11-$12 (sorry I don't know the part #) for my wife's xfire is OK. Mine, however is sorta sick sounding (eeekk, eeeekk) but works for me none the less. You'll hear it at Carlisle and I can hook you up in 10 minutes for just the buzzer cost.

I had mine mounted on the fender under the hood and it was loud enough to hear from about 15ft. away.

Valk,

thanks for posting this clip, for once it was of high enough sound quality for a person to make a decision.

I've seen so many requests for exhaust sound clips and every one I listen to is of just such poor quality that it is useless.

Like buying a home theater system based on pictures in a catalog and listening to it over the phone.

And by the way, my new alarm (OEM replacement) sounds exactly the same in both tone frequency AND volume.

So he's right folks, unless you just want factory parts, go with the simple mod. Just do a nice, clean install outside of the fusebox.

I put the RadioShack buzzer on both mine and it works fine. They do sound different though. They are identical buzzers mounted in the same place but the one on the Aero is a little louder than the SSB. Go figure.
