Way to go Bob. Ok, now put the rear mounted turbo on her and tell us what it feels like to stomp on her with TC off.

Sounds like you are just about ready for the Top Gun Run

I need to get the correct snorkels. I have the part numbers but they have been lower on the list. We didn't put the whole engine cover on for the test drive, just the filter section.

one hell of an accomplishment my friend, not everyone is going to be that successful. You seem to have put together a good team, did your research, and just set a new basis for HP for these cars. Once you figure out how to bring more power to this baby, look out...more to come...congrats...

It is huge difference from the V6 but not nearly over the top yet. Headers, cams, forced induction, a quaife posi in a CLK55 differential are all going to happen. The trans shifts just like it ever did but really also needs to be firmed up and quicker.

Sounds like a great idea! ...and Ferris, I will get over there as soon as possible. Now which one of you guys have a decent video camera?? I forgot to mention that the water temp stayed perfect and my dual 12 inch fan conversion is working very well. No exhaust leaks, no fluid drips whatsoever,

Are you near Bend? I have a lot of family there. It would be a great drive but I am hoping one the many Dallas area club members will chime in. I'll even make sure they get a great ride!

One more item on the driving impressions... The extra weight on the front end was not perceptible. I have added 130lbs (100lbs more than an SRT) to the front end. If anything it seems lighter because every time you touch the gas it jerks you back and the frint end lifts. Handling seems the same as before.

Just thinking ahead a little.

Here is a good read for those who want to learn and maybe do something themselves and save a ton.

So the a rear end from a C55 or CLK55 will bolt right in? And we should use the 55 axles and switch the drive flange from the four bolt to the Crossfire 3 bolt to hook up the drive shat? Do you know if the C55 or CLK55 has a posi rear end? I have seen that a quaife is available for that rear end.
HI LantanaTX,

So the a rear end from a C55 or CLK55 will bolt right in? Only the "older" diff will fit to the crossfire, like from a E55, C55, CLK55 or some Diesel, because anytime MB move the type of rear axels!

....switch the drive flange from the four bolt to the Crossfire 3 bolt to hook up the drive shat? YUP! But to adjust the new screw after remove the drive flange you need a special tourque meter, is require to set up the tapered roller bearing in the diff.

Do you know if the C55 or CLK55 has a posi rear end? What is that?

Sorry I didn't call you tonight after work Bob. Got tied up with one of my own little projects but as I said on the phone today, I'm green with envy. LOL I can only imagine what it would sound and feel like with the extra displacement and that throaty V8 exhaust note. All I want for Christmas is two more cylinders!

Congrats and let me know how everything goes when you get that other ECU in.

Thank for the very good information! A posi is a differential that supplies power to both rear wheels when accelerating. My personal favorite is the Quaife/Torsen type because they can shift power to the wheel that has the most traction.

There is an available from AMG but very expensive, so there are on aftermarket an set up package to update the regular E/C/CLK diff too. But I havn´t looks around for update yet.
