Default EvoSport Phenolic Intake Spacers???

Well, I'm very tempted to go ahead and order these as they are one of the few parts for our cars that are cheap. My question is, has anyone ever used them? I've done a couple of different searches and all I can find is casual mention and speculation. Does anyone on here have them, did it make a difference, and how difficult are they to put in?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't heard of anyone having them on a SRT6. I know some of the C32 and SLK32 guys have them. I think the reviews/experiences were pretty mixed over there (if I remember correctly).
I've been looking at the spacers too, I'd like to see some results though.

Hmmm,

For the money, I might go ahead and jump on them a little later. I want to get the car dynoed and go t the track a couple more times, so I can get a consistent performance baseline. Then I'll start modding, that way I can tell if there is any difference at all.

Hey if it actually reduces air temp by 100 degrees I wouldn't even flinch at the chance to buy a set for my car if only it was an srt6. that much of a temp drop if easily worth the cost of a new larger intercooler, but the only question is, are the Bullsh*tting the numbers or is it real? who's up for the experiment?

After I run the car a few more times, so I know the times are consistent, I'll pop for them. Give me a couple of weeks...

That's unfortunate for that guy. But, I'm not concerned about them working on my car, as that will never happen anyway. I'll install the spacers myself. I just wonder if they work. I've seen similar spacers on Hondas and Acuras make a BIG difference. I can't see that these from EvoSport would be a bad choice if they are what they say they are...

For $149 I may as well try them out...

Wow, it seems all the high dollar euro tuning shops lately are all mostly incompetent... kinda makes you think twice about their parts ay!

I have my doubts about those thicker manifold spacers now. I bet that 100 degree drop is a typo, it's probably 10 degree F drop.

You may see a 100f temp drop with the Evo Spacers but if you do it will be on the surface temp of the surge tanks and not intake temps. I would be surprised if these actually generate any HP gains.

The Bimmer guy is not the first person to complain about the shop, their work, their attitudes, and their products. To be fair they are far from the only shop with complaints.

Without being able to see the pictures of the guys header there is no way to tell if the rust he was complaining about is normal surface rust or something more serious.

I really don't see how that plastic spacer is going to decrease temps by a FULL 100 degrees F. it already has a paper gasket separating the two parts, if your right about the heat transfer to the surge tanks then I have to say EVOsports needs to reword their description as I'm starting to feel like they are a bunch of Con-men over there.

I suggest you take a look at this thread as well... NOT evosport...

Meh, it's a thought, but I'm not planning or tearing down the engine any time soon, and that's also pretty pricey.

there's not much information about these on mbworld, seems this part is to new, and haven't seen any dyno graphs.

I would expect minimal if any gains from the Phenolic Spacers. They will help forestall heatsoak. Not sure they are worth the time or money on either car esp the N/A Crossfire.

First time I read about the non-Evo phenolic spacers I did not realize they were for the head vs. surge tanks.

Guys, these do work. I put them on my SRT-8 and took the car on a road course. You can put your hand on the manifold after the run without leaving burning skin. Here is a thread from the 300c forum. A lot of the members there uses them. Obviously, different engines, but same principal.

Wow! Our forum isn't nearly as spicy as theirs.

As far as heat soak goes, at a former job we used some pretty high tech insulating material on our power converters mounted to the internal skin of satellites. Talk about keeping you circuits cool when temps fluctuate from extremes from rotation to rotation.

For that price it might be worth a try?

Your test only shows that surface temp on the manifold has been decreased. How is your intake air temp compare pre and post install? How are your trap speeds on the drag strip pre & post install?
