Default 35 Codes Stored!!!

Took my XF in for some service a couple of days ago. Main problem was intermittent starting issue; sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn't. When it wouldn't start, all the dash lights would come on and I could hear the fan start but nothing else would happen - it wouldn't turn over, no starter sounds, nothing. Anyway, they put it on the computer and 35 codes were stored! What they plan to do is clear all of the codes and take it for a drive to see what happens.

Other issues were radio display which they are going to replace under my extended warranty; missing hood rubber bumper and missing wiper blade caps that go over the bolts that hold on the wiper arm - total cost $11.

Has anyone seen that many codes or have a clue about the intermittent starting issue?

for that many codes to pop up it is either the worlds worst maintained XF (not likely lol) or you have a electrical issue that is affecting the signals going back to the ECU such as a grounding problem or voltage regulation issue ...

DRB 3 is your only hope now ... if they have a good tech he can figure out exactly what's going on with that scan tool.

PS... keep us up to date, curious as to where the electrical gremlin is hiding...

Well, the dealer cleared out the codes, took it for a test drive and none reappeared. I have now been driving the car for 4 days and no starting problems. They have ordered a new radio, wiper bolt cap, and missing hood bumper. Should be in next week.

I also lost the wiper cap bolts when i only had 3,000 miles on the car. Dealer ordered new ones and didn't charge me. You shouldn't have to pay for them...it wasn't your fault they popped off...manufactures defect!!!

Hope those codes don't come back. I will keep my fingers crossed for ya!
