Default fwd or rwd?

could someone please explain to me which crossfire models or year have fwd and which have rwd. before we got the crossfire i always thought they were all rwd. but ours is fwd. i don't understand why they would make a fwd coupe with different size wheels on the front and back. the car looks like its meant to be rwd. btw mine is a '04 coupe. please explain. thanks in advance.

I kid, I kid.

As NXMX said, all Crossfires are RWD (base, limited, SRT6 . . . 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 . . .)

They are wrong - there is no such thing as a front wheel drive Crossfire...

How about a picture of the engine bay. That should tell us if it's front wheel drive or not. Oh, and by the way. They did not make any... yes I said any front wheel drive Crossfires.

If you still don't believe us after checking under the hood. put it on jack stands and then hit the gas. Then tell us which wheels spin.

What are you guys talking about, Chrysler been making FWD crossfires for over a year already, they just rebadged them as the new Sebring.

Hey, after you get done here, go over to the Honda sites and tell them all about the RWD Civic Si you got.

Look - you're on a Crossfire Forum where we have many experts and people who know more than many who sell/service these cars. If you don't believe us, try the following:
1) Forbes
http://www.forbesautos.com/showmodel...ler/crossfire/
2) Motor Trend
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ire/index.html
3) Wikipedia (where it is categorized under RWD vehicles)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Crossfire

Before you go putting your car up on a lift to see which wheels turn, you might want to try looking under the car for this little thing called a driveshaft. Call me silly but that might just be a clue as to which wheels drive the car.

If he can't even tell that the car is rear wheel drive by driving it, why would you think he would know what a drive shaft looked like. And the answer to your question why do other sites say that they are front wheel dirve. Probably because this is the internet and you can say whatever you want to say. You may ask, "13, why are you being so harsh on the young lad?" Well its simple, if you go on a crossfire forum and ask a question, and several people who own crossfires not to mention owned them for quite some time answer the question, why do you try to debate it.

uuummm ahhh well...
You own a crossfire and haven't done a burn out yet?
It is rear wheel drive.
Put your foot on the brake and hit the go peddle.
If its a stick side step the clutch.
I promise you the rear tires will spin no matter what county you are in.

bluewater, you're talking about turbocharging your protoge but don't have the sense to look at the way the motor is mounted and figure out its definately rear wheel drive since the transmission is in between the seats almost and there is a driveshaft going back there as well ?

shame on you ... of course they are going to eat you for saying it.

EVERY car with staggered rims are RWD whether it be width or size or combo of the two.

255 19" Rears + 235 18" Fronts = RWD

ok first of all the xf isn''t my car, its my dads. ive got a protege. i've drivin it twice now, but i haven't been spinnin the tires in it. my dad told me it was fwd yesterday and i was like wtf? so i googled a few sites for the specs and the first 2 sites said it was fwd. so i guess i was wrong... sorry guys. i'll talk to my dad about it tomorrow. and don't tell me i'm mechanically inclined with engines, i have barely looked at our xf. we've had it for a week now.
