Default Sprint Booster: A Poll and a question

A poll for those that currently own the Sprint booster, and those who are contemplating.

My question is whether the SB improves or worsens gas mileage.

I am not sure, but I do know that I'm having more fun driving the car and am probably wasting gas with some of my sprinting and boosting once I installed the mod. If I kept my foot a bit more steady on the accelerator, I'd probably eek out better mileage, but hey, it's more fun.

I agree with Golfergal, I don't know if it's burning more gas yet, but I would imagine i am only because I like the acceleration and therefore I hit the has pedal more often. But, I really don't care.

Well, I'm still testing mine out, I will be resetting the throttle today and try driving for a couple more days to see if I get any changes.

IMO, I don't like driving the car as a daily driver anymore! 1st gear is way to twitchy to put up with, I have difficulty holding rpm in 1st. because it only takes about 1/2" of pedal travel for the motor to take off like a bat out of hell. Then I would let go of the throttle and slowly try to creep up on it, then wham, I'm off again, feels like a bucking bronco!

I tried taking off in 2nd from a stop, but it requires higher rpm and longer clutch engagement time, and most likely higher wear on the clutch. This is something I would like to avoid because a new clutch isn't cheap and a big pain in the a$$ to install.

Otherwise I love driving with it, I really like the low end response from 2-6th, almost feels like the torque is coming in sooner on the power band too. Even 6th gear is a big improvement on the freeway, I keep finding myself looking for another gear to shift into because I think I'm still in 5th while driving in 6th.

so right now I'm on the fence about the drivability of this product for street use. I might be removing mine soon.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, with the sprint booster, I sucked down a half a tank of premium in two days, I drove 85 miles so that was roughly 11 mpg. That's because I was having too much fun standing on the throttle, so to clarify, this is not going to improve your mileage, but it will put a smile on your face!

I drive the Autostick. I have not found it difficult to drive in city traffic nor do I feel I'm not in complete control of the booster effect. I drive 20 miles round trip to my job and the speed limit is never over 35-40 MPH.

However, when I want to let loose, boy does the car respond and it's a total blast to drive. I would not dissuade anyone to get in on this mod and I'm truly not a speed demon...just a regular golfergal with a zest for life!

Keep in mind dynamicS that you purchased the 'manual' version for the manual transmission. Which is more aggressive.

If you had opted for the 'Auto' version on your manual transmission, you may have better control.

I'm in the same boat as GolferGal and have the 5-speed auto-stick. I do however have about another 80+ horsies under the hood, but I'm still able to easily control the throttle so I don't let it go 'like a bat out of heck' unless I want to.

Question Re: Sprint Booster: A Poll and a question

I didn't buy mine through the group purchase. When your SB were ordered, did you have to specify if your Xfire was a stick, or an auto?

Yeah I think the auto version is probably the one to buy for our manual cars.
I might have just sell this one and buy another Auto version. Do you have any AutoSB's left in your stock Timelord?

Yes, you specify which model of Sprint booster you want, the manual or auto transmission can use the auto Sprint Booster. Only a manual transmission should be used with the manual Sprint Booster as it's too aggressive and will probably damage an automatic transmission.

EDIT: dynamicS, no I do not... I did not order 'extras'.

I would have specified but have nothing to base my knowlege on, it's all trial and error, hehe. I wonder if the manufactuer would let me swap for an automatic version?
Anychance you can send me his email address Timelord?
MAybe we should start another group buy?

All the information is in the thread, but here it is:

1 - The web site is in English http://www.sprintbooster.gr/en/index...tpage&Itemid=1
2 - This is how you contact them info@boulekosdynamic.com
3 - Contact them with the application, vehicle, transmission and the quantity you wish to purchase and they will quote you a price and you will need to get his bank information to send a wire transfer, the only way they conduct business.
4 - Go to the bank and buy the EUROS and the wire transfer, as a note when the group agrees on money.. Banks charge a fee to do wire transfers, the exchange rate to purchase EUROS fluctuates by the minute and you may or may not have to pay a 2.5% import duty fee when the order comes through customs.
5 - When the parts come in the person will need everyone's personal information so they can repackage the parts and send them to their respective owner.
6 - Install the Sprint Booster and have fun.
From here...

I would have voted "I love it" if I was getting the same response every time. From time to time, I still get some lag when I stomp on the gas. Kinda annoying actually since now that I have the SB I'm expecting an immediate response whereas before I know to expect it.

What I'm craving now is more HP. Timelord when are you doing your upgrades? I'm hoping you get significant gains now that the car can be dyno'd and gains can be quantified.

As far as gas, don't have a clue if it got worse. As long as I don't get less than 10 MPG that's good enough for me. Couldn't be as expensive as the time it cost me $120 bucks to fill up. :-)

Well I think that based on the results so far, the automatics with boosters are loving it. So the problem must be with the booster for the sticks.

I'm hoping to do an Upsolute upgrade first as it will be less $$ than the pulley set.

I'm still considering the RennTech pulley set and ECU upgrade package as it will work out only slightly more expensive.

Still considering my options at this point. Hope to start the upgrades by the end of the month (budget permitting).

It isn't really a problem with the SB...as we all know, 1st gear is really short, and with the SB it makes it really difficult to launch smoothly. I installed the 251A 'lite' version with my manual trans and it was still too aggressive for a daily driver in traffic. 2nd and above, and out on the open road, it was wonderful. It just all depends on what you are comfortable with. But the SB does exactly what it is advertised to do.

Being a new XF owner w/Autostick, I'm interested in this sprintbooster.

I've checked the KLM? Site and am wondering:

1. Is the $250 worth it?
2. Is there any fuel economy gain?

Best $250.00 you'll likely spend on this car! You will likely see a small drop in mileage but only cause the damn thing is so much more fun to drive.

I am starting to hate you guys... Last time around I was positive I wanted no part of a mod that didn't really add horsepower.
Now I am thinking I may have to buy one to see what the hype is all about!
I'm going to go broke hanging around this place.

I got about 420 km per tank taking it easy, 380 km (at worst) giving it a bit from time to time (maybe a bit more often).

Since the Sprint Booster, I regularly get 370-390 km per tank.

I tested the first tank with the Sprint Booster and got 280 km from that tank but I got fuel from a different station to usual- not sure what happened besides that- never happened since.

I think the Sprint Booster is a good, cheap mod. A friend interstate has a BMW M3 and he says they have a "Sprint Booster" sort of thing built in - press a button to turn it on and off.
