Default Alarmed !

Ok, My alarm started squealing while i was driving the other day . I pulled over ,turned the motor off , hit the lock and unlock buttons and restarted the motor . All good again .

I got home and hit the lock button , then to see if it was working i reached in (top was down) and opened the door . The lights started flashing but no siren sound

Today i parked outside a store locked the doors with the remote , a minute later i hear my alarm squealing andl ights flashing. I disarmed unlocked the car from inside the store.

Drove home ,locked the doors . 10 minutes later i see the lights were flashing ,again no siren.
what has happened , do i need a new siren now or can i pull a fuse ? i dont really need an alarm anyway
Thanks guys

Mine went, "cricket on crack". Try that at 2am or walking into a store. Punch ,punch, punch on the FOB, people looking out their windows an there's me. Looking like duuuh! Yea , I pulled the fuse. Then give MB $165 ; Now , I get 3 chrips...as I walk away!

That one morning, in my underwear, I almost shot it..lol

Haha oh yes i can relate to that!
thinking about it its amazing the rechargable batteries in the siren even last as long as they did , 12 years is a long time for nimh batts.
MB should have made the siren servicable but then they couldnt sell new ones.
oh well.

Really now, think about it, who is "stealing this cars"???

What I did was removed the siren and left all else alone. Lights will flash if the car is jacked up and I'm sure they would flash if door was opened.

I did this to eliminate the "Crickets on Crack".

Mine did the alarm while driving down the road. I just needed some red and blues and I could have been home a lot quicker.

For you repair folks, you can get the oem batteries for about $22 :

Search results for: 'varta 3v/150h'

I think I'd rather spend the few extra bucks for real German batteries sold from a USA distributor than buy Chinese batteries from China on eBay... just say'in

Members here have been repairing their sirens for years with these, but to each his or her own.

When the siren sounds without a reason, often the battery is bleed out on the circuit board and damaged it.
In Germany I have bought this siren from a Mercedes dealer A2198203226 it cost there about 100$ and after replaced the old my car gives beeps when I opened and closed it.

Just for your info, Varta battery company is owned by Johnson Controls Innternational which is headquartered in Cork, Ireland. It was based in the US, after merging with another company it moved from the US to avoid paying taxes on some of its earnings, approximately 150 million a year.
Hillary Clinton heavily criticized the company as it had received US government aid in 2008.
I guess it's last words to the US was "Good bye suckers".

Just for your info, JCI is still headquarted in Milwaukee, WI with worldwide offices. Hillary's remarks were immediately refuted by the company.

International HQs are in Cork, your article says that and I did use the word some taxes. It also benefited from the Auto industry bailouts. I may not be 100% but there is a lot of truth in what I stated which I gleaned from articles like you quoted. Milwaukee is not the legal international HQ, Ireland attracts companies because of their sometime initial no tax rate and later a low tax rate. They are not there for the good of the US taxpayer just their shareholders.
Companies do this all the time, lower tax rates for corporations can be expected in the near future, the average Joe or Jane will pay more taxes, count on it.
