Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
Interesting..... the only place I would care would be at the track... and he says it isnt meant to improve 1/4 mile.....but will give a little improvement on shifts at WOT.
I believe that is what Hoolyboy says the blue top solenoids do too. Firms up the shifts. (shouldnt void warranty since it is factory part)
as I said...interesting....

Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
patience, I have a friend working on it for us. The info was sent to one of the designers...who nows consults for Sonix...they are engineers who's specialty is transmissions...hope to have the info soon. Our cars shift at 60% throttle btw...so more to do...
Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
Interesting, I have not followed any threads on the tranny. What are these blue thingys i read about? My car shifts pretty hard 1-2...was going to take it in for warranty, but i wonder if its something i can look at myself being mechanically inclined....then again transmissions scare me ha ha.
Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
I didn't install the bluetops because I was working on a piggyback controller that ties into the throttle and the transmission and I wanted to keep all the variables the same across the board. They will be going in before winter is over but my motivation has dropped like the temps up here. LOL
My brother has an SRT8 so maybe I'll pick one up and see if it will work with our cars. If it does, I'll report back and keep it. If it doesn't, my brother gets a badass birthday present. LOL

Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
Well after reading through all 18 pages of material, this guy pretty much has made exactly what I've been working on. Going through the Chrysler LX diagrams and information and comparing it to ours it looks like they are connecting this box to half the wires I've been working with which control the modulation pressure, shift pressure and solenoid voltage. Doesn't look like he's actually messing with any of the gear change solenoids which for me was just to make this car so you could run it through the gears exactly like a manual but that's besides the point here. I've fired off a PM to the person making these and I'll let everyone know what input or information I get from him but as of right now, I'm not going to do any further work on this until I figure out if this will do what my little hodge podge controller sort of does on the workbench and if it will work with our cars.
Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
sorry Rudy, I have to find Art first...lol....he does consultling work now that he retired from Allison Transmission. I will see if he has an update from his engineer friend from Sonnax, Sonnax manufactures aftermarket products for the auto industry...we will get this figured out...
Re: Firmer Shifts for your Autostick ?
Just got off the phone with the gentleman on the LX forum that made the silverbox and it sounds like this will work with our transmission as well. We talked for about 45 minutes and discussed the various things that come into play with how the shift events occur and what his silverbox does to overcome these issues if you will. He is located in Atlanta and is more than happy to test one of these out with someone here on the forum to verify if it works with our car. Anyone in the area, please email me so we can get something lined up. My email address is rudy@acceleratedindustries.com. He also made mention of a company that makes a standalone TCM that may possibly work in our car. I'm going to get in touch with them as well and see what would be involved in getting something like this put together for our car.

Speaking of new...
I'm looking at getting a reworked valve body for my coupe. I'll post more info later.

From what I understand the "silver box" will act kinda like a Sprint Booster 'cept for the transmission. It will take the signal from the TCM and change it, telling the transmission to increase line pressure eariler thus the firmer shifts. Line pressure will not increase over stock just come on sooner.
I'm going to have my valve body reworked by Builder Bill. He is on all of the other NAG1 transmission running cars websites offering two stages of valve bodies for the NAG1. SAMPLE
Bill tells me that the SRT VB is different than the other NAG1 VB. Seems it's made of better quality materials. For that reason I'm going to send him my VB rather than opt for a swap. I'll update.
