Let the hood mods begin...
I finally scored a Crossfire hood that I can play with and started cutting it up yesterday. I hope to work on it a little bit each week(for many many weeks) until it is perfect. Basically it's a Crossfire/Jaguar XKR hybrid hood..............I am eliminating the boat deck look while at the same time adding nice subtle vents and retaining the center spine.
Here is stage one.............

The way the support structure is for the hood looks like making those inserts functional is a problem. Were you planning on do that (making functional)?

I am going to cut the inner reinforcements out that are in the way and relocate them in a triangular pattern which will be shown in later pictures as it is done. I wouldn't waste my time and go through all this work to make it with non-functional vents.
The bonding of aluminum will be done with a combination of structural adhesive(glue), rivets, welding, fiberglassing and some putty to smooth everything out.
Once it's "done" I will mount the hood on my car and have the front end repainted...............and will probably take the rear bumper off and shave the sidemarkers off at the same time.

Hello Moparrbust! So glad you incorporated the center spine. I've still got my 2009 XKR Supercharged vents laying on the kitchen table. LOL. After taping to prevent scratching,I'll be using a roto zip this spring to cut into my factory hood. Cutting the insulation blanket to fit then it'll be functional. Good luck with your project. Looking Good.... Squirrel.
