OK Time to get Tires.... (North Carolina)
OK Time to get Tires.... (North Carolina)
I live in the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina. Trying to figure out several things:
1. Should I order from tirerack or find a good local dealer?
2. What brand of tire to get?
Anyone in central north carolina got any recommendations for a tire dealer / tirerack instaler? I have dealt with Merchants Tire in Durham for my Maxima but don't think I want them touching my 2005 Crossfire Covertible.
Also what brands of tires have you guys had luck with? I am not at all happy with the OEM Conti's.
I am considering these brands:
Yokohama ADVAN S.4.
Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season
General Exclaim UHP
Kumho Ecsta SPT
The Yokos and Goodyear are much more expensive than the Generals and the Kumhos. But I have heard good things about all of these tires.
Just curious about experiences of people on this board.
Thanks.

Re: OK Time to get Tires.... (North Carolina)
The only ones I would put on my car from that list are the Eagle F1's. As for a shop I would recomend a fairly new shop that has a roll on, or some type minimal touch machine. Make sure the company will compensate you if they scratch your wheels. Take pictures of your wheels if they are undamaged just before you take it to them, with some sort of date referance in the scene. Finally, if you have a local high exotic car store, or body shop that doesn't do their own tires call them and find out where they out-source to. I learned this from a friend when he wrecked his 300z TT, he called the local Ferarri dealer and asked them where they had their bodywork done, and then made his insurance fix it there.
