Default Betty Got Ran Over By A (Rein)Deer

I did not intend to go deer hunting on Christmas Eve when I went to Louisiana, but....

I picked up my son on Toledo Bend and he decided to drive to give me a break and drive. We had been about 10 miles and had already discussed watching for deer.

Well, there it was, a big buck with a huge rack standing in our lane. I yelled "Deer". The buck moved by the time he hit his break, but the other deers on the other side of the highway decided to cross the road at that time. Jeremy almost had the car stopped when we hit one of the other deer.

We were not hurt, thank God. And the deer ran off into the woods where we could not find it while waiting for the state trooper to come and make a report for the insurance company.

It did not look like much damage, I did not even take a picture, but I left Betty there and she is in the shop getting a new bumper, grille, headlight, fog light and horn. Might have to have a new fender also, but that is yet to be determined.

Not the way I wanted to obtain a different grille for my car, lol.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!!!!

Wow littlewing, I'm glad to know ya'll weren't hurt! That could have been a real disaster. Did you have venison for Christmas?

Are you getting an SRT-6 bumper? I've read where they cost less than N/A bumpers.

Thanks Inferno.

No venison, but we did also almost hit a opossum later on, lol.

It could have been a wild game Christmas.

I need to check things out and see about that bumper. Any info or links would be welcome. Guess I can check e-bay.

I don't think you need to check Ebay for the SRT-6 bumper. I seem to recall FP replaced his with one he purchased through the dealer. I could be wrong about where he bought it...that wouldn't be a first.

At our GTG with FP, he said that someone here on the forum has a gray painted one for sale. I'll see if I can find it. It could always be repainted black.

That sounds great!!!

Yet another reason that a car club is a great way to go. We can all help each other out.

Glad to hear you are okay..sorry Betty is a little banged up! I guess that is ONE advantage of living in "beautiful western New York"....my Crossfire is up for the winter. I just don't think she could handle the 125 inches of snow we've already had!!

In Louisiana. I had access to one of my parents cars to get back to Dallas.

I know a guy that does frame off restoration of muscle cars and he is going to do it for me.

The two dealerships in the area had never even seen one. And one place did not even know what it was. So did I trust them with my car, I don't think so.

Shelter Insurance is a good company. They have already cut the check for the repairs. And I only reported it yesterday.

Oh man, I think I will take my chances with the deers. I don't think I could handle 125 inches of snow ever. Here in Dallas if we get 1 inch every few years we get excited.

I see you live in Auburn, but if you are an Alabama fan, good luck in the Sugar Bowl.
