Default Thanks to Les

Just wanted to publicly thank Les (Velociabstract) for sending me his old N.W.'s downpipes w/ cutouts.
I figured this was a good place to post this, since this is where we see the most from Les. I can only hope that some of his Track Mojo came with them. Much appreciated Les.

Yes, that was very creative indeed. My local folks at the P.O. just HAD to know what was in such a strange shaped package. I probably won't be able to get them on before the next track day, but I've borrowed the son-in-laws Hero Cam and bought a roll bar mount, and will hopefully get a few laps on video(never done this). Les; where do you mount your camera? On 5/23, I'll be running @ Sonoma Raceway, aka Sears Point,(formerly Infineon Raceway, but Infineon Corp. didn't renew their naming rights a little while back). Anyway; I've decided to use an X-pipe at the rear cat location AND keep the H-pipe in place, so I can return to unmolested stock form. I talked to a guy at Magnaflow, and he seemed to think that keeping the H in addition to the new X shouldn't be a concern. Anybody else have an opinion on this?

Just a question....Why is an X or H needed when they run into a Y regardless?

Good question. Are you referring to the "Y" as meaning the resonator, where our dual 2-1/4" tubes dump into the resonator(SRT6)? It is my understanding that industry standard suggests that you should have both banks of the exhaust equalize sooner, rather than later(waiting for the exhaust pulses to reach the resonator). Thus, the H-pipe they gave us mid stream. The newer X-pipe research suggests that it is a superior performance enhancement for better exhaust scavenging / flow. I'm just following the lead of others that suggest this is the better performance decision. To explain the physics of why this is better, needs to be shared by someone a lot smarter than me.

Doh! You just made me think about the stock system, you are correct about the resonator. For some reason I had it in my mind that the stock exhaust Y'd a few few up stream of the resonator when in fact it is 2 seperate pipes all the way to the resonator. Im a goober.
