Default NASA Cal. Speedway

Hello Everyone,

I'm disappointed to have to send this e-mail out, because despite my warnings that the Cal Speedway event would sell out quickly, it appears that the SoCal TT drivers fell asleep at the wheel. Yes, if you have checked the registration website lately, HPDE 3, 4, and TT are all closed for further registration. It seems that the HPDE 1, 2, and 3 drivers rushed the registration pages, and basically forced Ryan Flaherty to create two HPDE 1/2 run groups. The HPDE 3 group is also completely filled. There are currently about 25 TT drivers registered (including AZ drivers), plus there are probably about another 10 TT drivers that are instructors. There are another 10 HPDE4 drivers (although I think some of them are actually going to participate in TT), and about another 10 instructors that are not TT drivers. So, basically, our run group will not be a TT-only run group as I hoped, and as the region had planned for. All I can say is, "I told you so."

We have one opportunity left for all of you snoozers out there. I have offered to run a competition TT event on Friday (with a TT-only run group), and Ryan will give us the run group if we produce the numbers within a week. This would be the first points event of the season. I'm not sure if it would be a 4 or 5 session event, but it would likely be 5 sessions. If we run the event, I will add one drop day to the season championship series, to make a total of three mandatory drop days. This way, the participants that registered for the weekend, and cannot make it Friday, will not be penalized.

Here's what I need if we are going to try and run the Friday TT points event. I need everyone that wants to compete in TT on Friday at Cal Speedway to e-mail me as soon as possible. If we don't have at least 30 drivers within a week, we will not run the event. As soon as we reach the required minimum number of participants, I will send an e-mail informing everyone. Please make your decision quickly so everyone can make the appropriate plans ASAP.

This is basically the last opportunity, but at least we have the chance to make something of it. If there is a huge amount of interest, perhaps we can look into two TT run groups on Friday. It's up to all of you at this point.

We will be announcing a very interesting Hankook tire contingency program soon, that I'm sure will spark some interest in the Z214 and other Hankook tires. The details should be out within a few days.

Thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon,

Greg Greenbaum

Looks like you guys just barely made it into the event, if you all signed-up already... Terrific for you, but it looks like I'm going to be dodging some of the HPDE drivers on the track...

When I was at Buttonwillow Raceway Park with Derek, there were four sessions per day at about 20 minutes per session or around 10 laps.

Not sure what they will have this time. With the huge turnout, scheduling will be a bear!

They are expecting 4-5 sessions per day. 20 minute events. The track is 2.5 miles.

Ok thanks. Doesn't seem that we can get that much runs since there's so many groups. Other events i've run usually has only 3 run groups with 20 min sessions and still only has about 4-5 sessions for the day.

Jenny's going to scream now too... NASA just added Friday March 16th as a points TT race and I signed-up for it... CHA CHING. The only problem is that my tires & brakes will be TOAST by the end of Sunday with now 15 events in three days (I only have a day or two left on them), so I had to order another set of tires... CHA CHING... Hankook Z214 225/40/18 (C70 compound) & 275/35/18 (C50 compound) and another set of Porterfield pads... CHA CHING... Looks like I'll be doing a brake job on Saturday night in the garage I rented at the track...

PS: A few other Forum members will be coming out to wave the flag (spectate) on Saturday. maximussquid being one of them !!!

Thanks... I'll need someone to help me bleed the system...

I don't think we have a Crossfire fan club, I think we have the potential for more future HPDE participants...
