Default HDDP and all the XF racers

I just posted a reply to Woody's Nurburgring post (see longer note in "cars" section Nurburgring for Easter) from some weeks ago, but wanted to put the same link here just incase you don't visit that part of the site.

http://www.bmwtransact.com/microsite/Nurburgring/

As racers, I know you'll love this. enjoy. Just wish we could see an XF doing this run.

Senna:

Great video... I like the split screen with the driver... I wasn't going to use my video camera this weekend, but now you've made me think twice.

Expect a few clips on Monday or Tuesday...

I knew you'd appreciate that split screen, it really gives you perspective about what's going on. What'd you think of the audio...get that XF miked up bud and we can hear the gear clicks, the rattles and a few more Yehaaa's in your next vid.

Now that the car is gutted on the inside and all the sound deadening has been removed you'll be able to hear everything. Even my mis-shifts and Oh-shizs.

The only thing you can hear on the video from this weekend is my A$$ getting whipped. The sound that you think are rocks and rubber chunks being thrown against the wheel wells are actually pieces of my flesh being torn from my body by every passing racer. The other sound you hear is my EGO being ripped away bit by bit. http://www.hollywooddigitalimaging.com/WSIR1.mov

HDDP, so what was the story? you down on power to the others, or was there an issue with the car that day. No worries, a day on the track is a great day anyway. The video quality is great, next you can mimick the BMW/Nurburing film and sync shots from a second camera focued on you!

thanks bud

The organizers (NASA) clumped all the TT cars in the same group, about 40 of them. I had only three cars in my class TTD. The cars in the upper echelon TT obviously out HP the Crossfire. Ah well, at least you don't see any other TTD cars passing me. It was nerve wracking getting BUZZ BOMBED everywhere on the track, to say the least.

Unfortunately I won't be hitting the track for a few weeks because I have too many projects to do on the car. I'm mocking-up a roll cage and have just ordered Schrick Cams. Had to buy a TIG welder and Mandrel Bender and a bunch of 1.75" DOM steel pipe.

As my wife said before she went out of town on business, "YOU'VE SPENT YOUR ALLOWANCE"... Sad, because I was invited to run at California Motor Speedway next weekend for a "Tribute To Le Mans".

Yah, I figured you snuck out with a different class of cars, and you were certainly getting "buzzed" that one pass on the front straight where you had guys go by on both sides was a bit hairy! I could see you checking the mirrors. Like I said, it was still one more day on the track than I've had, so it can't be so bad.

Oh, I could really hear the difference now that you gutted the interior, rock pings and all. The sound was very good, I'll pardon you for no "yeeehaa's" give the circumstances.

Definitely looking forward to seeing the cage in the car. Now, will this have any effect on rigidity (driving wise) or is simply for safety?

I'd send ya ten bucks but I don't even have an allowance, my wife says "it's mine, it's mine"...hehe.

Great stuff as always.!!

Most of those pings are rubber (beads) from the track. I was a little too focused to let loose the YEEHAH, perhaps next time when I'm not dodging F16 fly bys... LOL

As far as the cage, it is principally for safety, but I'm designing a X style rear cross support that will go from the top hoop on the driver side over to the right damper attachment, and vice versa. My research has shown me that this will prevent frame flex and stiffen the rear end.

Which reminds me, another thing I have to buy is a safety fuel cell before the cage goes in because the cross members will prevent later installation of the fuel cell... Well, there goes another $700...

Honey, where's the check book ? LOL
