HDDP and all the XF racers
HDDP and all the XF racers
I just posted a reply to Woody's Nurburgring post (see longer note in "cars" section Nurburgring for Easter) from some weeks ago, but wanted to put the same link here just incase you don't visit that part of the site.

As racers, I know you'll love this. enjoy. Just wish we could see an XF doing this run.

Unfortunately I won't be hitting the track for a few weeks because I have too many projects to do on the car. I'm mocking-up a roll cage and have just ordered Schrick Cams. Had to buy a TIG welder and Mandrel Bender and a bunch of 1.75" DOM steel pipe.
As my wife said before she went out of town on business, "YOU'VE SPENT YOUR ALLOWANCE"... Sad, because I was invited to run at California Motor Speedway next weekend for a "Tribute To Le Mans".
Re: HDDP and all the XF racers
Yah, I figured you snuck out with a different class of cars, and you were certainly getting "buzzed" that one pass on the front straight where you had guys go by on both sides was a bit hairy! I could see you checking the mirrors. Like I said, it was still one more day on the track than I've had, so it can't be so bad.
Oh, I could really hear the difference now that you gutted the interior, rock pings and all. The sound was very good, I'll pardon you for no "yeeehaa's" give the circumstances.
Definitely looking forward to seeing the cage in the car. Now, will this have any effect on rigidity (driving wise) or is simply for safety?
I'd send ya ten bucks but I don't even have an allowance, my wife says "it's mine, it's mine"...hehe.
Great stuff as always.!!

As far as the cage, it is principally for safety, but I'm designing a X style rear cross support that will go from the top hoop on the driver side over to the right damper attachment, and vice versa. My research has shown me that this will prevent frame flex and stiffen the rear end.
Which reminds me, another thing I have to buy is a safety fuel cell before the cage goes in because the cross members will prevent later installation of the fuel cell... Well, there goes another $700...
Honey, where's the check book ? LOL
