I posted about a minor accident I had with a traffic cone. I have a body shop that says the bumper cover can be repaired but they're looking for a passenger side fog light. I should know by monday Dec. 5th if they've found one. If not I'd be interested in it from you. Looks ok in the pics.

Hi all --

Just letting you know that the car is in our possession, and some of the major bits have been taken off. I will be replying to PMs throughout the week to touch base with all interested parties. If you spoke for a part early-on, but have changed your mind, let me know and I'll add it back to the available list.

Still waiting on the return of the title so I can exchange for a red title (non-rep) for the chassis, which was the condition of me buying the car back from insurance.

I saw some interest in the fog lights from several parties -- the lenses are in decent shape, but the rear mounting tabs on both sides are toast. So, these are NG.

Speak soon,

--John

As of yesterday evening, I sold the remaining chassis to MrMoPar... any parts not stripped off as of yesterday are going up north with him.

You might be able to coax them from him...

John,

Hate to think of it's being crushed, if you meant that literally. Thanks for making the parts available. If there's enough left to be worth the trip, I might be able drive up and get it next week for the "crusher" cost.

If you have interest, please let me know.

Glad y'all weren't hurt. Did the other vehicle's occupants do OK? They certainly got a view of the road most people don't want!

Merry Christmas.

Hi Michael,

We opted not to crush it. The chassis has been sold, minus a few items picked off for folks in this thread...

Cheers,

Yes I will be picking up the chassis after Christmas. If you have interest in any remaining parts, feel free to let me know.

And it is NOT going to get crushed. We discussed and should be able to get salvage status on it. I plan to strip to a bare chassis, have the front straightened, then store it as insurance for my wife's 04 alabaster coupe. If I get really bored in the future, possibly a Hemi powered Pro Street. You never know.

I'm still waiting on my adjuster to get back in touch with me regarding the legality of this... When I bought the car back, it was under the condition that the car would be dismantled and sold for parts. Prior to a few days ago, there was never even a consideration for the chassis to be reused. All things being equal, it would be much cheaper (and safer) to simply buy a replacement Alabaster coupe that never had a wreck, versus trying to Frankenstein two cars together. If anyone had sentimental value in a Limited Coupe, it was me... but I had a reality check once I saw the repair estimates. For the same money, I could (and did) buy a far superior car.

In the state of TN, applying for a salvage title is $75 plus ~6 week turnaround time... Parts-only is free and is a two-week turnaround. Seeing as I told the insurance company that I wasn't ever going to put the chassis on the road, ever again, it might be wise to stick to that (from a legal standpoint).

My agent was out of the office today, but should hear something back tomorrow.

I understand the idea you're going for, and agree that it would be novel to have the backup, but I'm trying to cover my rear as much as possible, legally speaking. If the thought of having a part-only title is unacceptable, let me know and I'll offer the chassis back up for sale, or strip the big items and crush for roughly the same $$$ in my pocket, with zero liability/risk.

That is not a deal breaker, salvage preferred, parts only would work. Frankenstein? Never. I would not graft to vehicles together. But, you have not seen what I am capable of either! Transfer 100% of components from a wrecked chassis to a bare chassis, no sweat, done in a week. Think about it, what would you be able to get in five years?
