Rudy told me that the TCU are not VIN specific and he should know as he has replaced transmissions as part of his V8 swaps. I believe he did tell me that the TCU, Trans and reara end ratio have to be compatible. You really need to try the TCU and others have replaced TCU's without a problem.

I found a previuos thread where SBJUNKKIE purchased a TCU from a forum member becuase he had a bad one. He posted for a MOD to deleate the thread but it was still available to be read.
Since he lied about the shipping date I am now concerned that he sent me the bad one that he took out. If I remove it from the package and test it, I have no way to prove to paypal that I haven't switched parts. Or that my car didn't caused the TCU to fail. It all falls down to the fact that SBJ lied so I can't trust anything that he said.
The safest thing for me is to leave the TCU it in the package and wait for paypal to make a decision.

If we had a seller feedback section we could atleast look at how long a seller has been active on the site and if other have had problems with the seller.

So you haven't taken it out of the box? Did you get a picture or part number when you bought it? You should at least compare part numbers to the one in your car. Rudy has been swaping TCU's with no problem and swears they are not VIN coded. I think you are making this harder on yourself than you need to. The seller may think you are a bad buyer. In the automotive world electronic parts are usually never refundable. this is very normal.

The feedback section would be hard to make work as many members not involved in the deal tend to make excuses for the member involved. This is even obvious in this thread already.

As such any comments made by one member would be outweighed by the comments made by others who may know him personally or are in a little group that slaps each other on the back all the time. In the same vein anyone who upset one of this group would have the wrath of that group on their back.

We have had group buys that went wrong and group buys that went seemingly OK. Feedback on the bad group buy would have filled a book, on the OK group buy there was hardly a whisper.

I made some comments one time on a possible group buy and I was told I was being negative, when this all went belly up due to a poor process there were not too many words written about it except by those that lost out.

The real lesson is an old lesson - buyer beware.

If it were not for the lies, the part would not have been shipped and no return of the part refund would be in question!!!
This thread was intended to promote awareness of a dis-honest seller. Though I appritiate your opinion, I will continue on the path of return and refund through paypal. In order to complete this, the TCU will remain in the box, unopened until the issue is resolved. When a seller so obviously mis-represents, I do not hope that everything else that they said was true.

I understand where you are coming from and I have bought a ton of stuff and always insist on Paypal. I have gotten mad a few times when I was lied to about when something shipped. So I totaly support your decision. but if you did receive the right part and it works, I would just use the part, but not buy from that person again if they are not honest about when they have shipped something. Now if the part number is incorrect, you would have a better claim with Paypal.

You bring up a very good point.
Plus, the part could be perfectly fine, in good working condition and the correct one....in other words exactly what the buyer was wanting to buy. I think this situation could and can still be easily rectified between the seller and buyer with some private communication.

Seller hasn't responded to PM, email or paypal challenge.

From what I see, SoftBallJunkie has to step up to the plate and swing as he's taken too many strikes already.

LINSTR63 - Has SBjunkkie responded to your complaints against his mis-represented sale? I'm surprised that most others here have seemed to pass over your post.

He told me he would pay, I sent him an invoice or two. I might have sent him an email too. Haven't heard anything back and lost his phone number.

He received my money on 6-7-11. I received the cai intake on 6-29-11.

Then after not having the right tube it took a while to set up getting a new one.

then he sent me this on 8-10-11

"Sorry been busy too and just left on vacation today. Go ahead and buy it and then invoice me for the $40 and ill get it to you the weekend of 20th when I get back into town.

Thanks."
Haven't heard back since

In my occasional expierence with PP and ebay, they are not much help getting your money returned on a sour deal. My only recourse twice was that I paid with PP using my credit card. PP said nothing could be done in both my situations. But my bank was more than helpful in "disputing the charges" for me and got a full refund for the entire transactions. All I had to prove both times is that I had a receipt for items returned by USPS or UPS.

Good Luck, James

PS even when using PP, use your credit card, it gives you another layer of protection.

James is 100% correct....always use a credit card... There are always 2 sides to every story, and I have been burned by bad deals on the net. I never spend more than willing to lose dealing on the net. For larger purchases, I only deal with people with a long solid track record...good luck

After this fiasco and the previous one here.

I think this guy should be banned if there is no good explanation for his actions. People have been banned before, how many times must this guy screw people here before it happens to him?

We Canadians, I'm just a $10 one, do not want our name sullied by such cheap scams. At least Conrad Black was into serious money before he went to prison.

I had a negative experience with softball junkie several months ago that involved headlights that he was selling. He reneged after posting the price that I had agreed on purchasing headlights for. I became very adamant about not trusting him and not recommending him to anyone on the crossfire forum to purchase any items from him.

Unfortunately, he has continued selling items.

I see this thread, that you gave your opinion on, there is also mention of the earlier scam that lead to the banishment of Vince.
Despite your misgivings there were people who gave him the benefit of the doubt as they did for Vince until an outsider gave us the skinny. That was an interesting thread as well

Hmmmmm.....Seems I was correct. SBJ has no integrity and you are all seeing the crap hitting the fan. Be smart and stay clear of the Root-like AH.
