If you don't discuss it, you don't get any ideas...this is one hell of an undertaking and I applaud those who have done it so far...it is a lot of work, and organization. I sure don't want to fail at a gtg this big. The things to do around here would take more than a year in advance to get your foot in the door, whether Indy 500 or the Brickyard. People reserve their rooms a year in advance and their parking a year in advance...so, to do an Indy meet, it will take 2 yrs, IF there is interest, and IF the track has interest. The Vette's and Camaros, and Mustangs have had this venue for years...it will be hard to crack, but not impossible. It will also be expensive to some extent. If there is interest, I will start to look into it. There are track possibilties with O'Reilly Park, both drag racing and round track. Again, I will have to ask the cost. Franc understands this part well. As for a drive in the country, Nashville IN, is a possibility as well the Rockville area which some of the St Louis crowd has done already. Interest, just let me know...but it would be for 2013, not 2012...

Agreed!
Saturday nite after a few drinks, we will surely be able to solve this issue.
Have somebody promise sobriety so they can remember all the generated genius.

In case I forget or everybody is too drunk to understand that night, the Colorado Group showed another way the event can be handled, low key with a lot of driving routes and establishing a hotel. We (GCG) went a little bigger than needed, but it was the initial one and we thought there were going to be up to 100 Crossfires and close to 150 people when we planned it. Plus we don't have the Rockies in our backyard...but none of that matters as each event is going to be different; which is why we have the CAA.
So whomever is considering this, don't compare it to the others and just keep in mind you only have to have some good interesting routes and/or landmarks; depending on the time of year, it could even be a few days leading up to something another event depending on the time of year. Keep thinking and let's not wait too long to decide.

Western Arkansas, East Texas, Southern Indiana come to mind. On a wild shot even S Carolina and Florida have interesting venues.
Taking another tack, I gotta say Niagra Falls/northern New York region in late May would be cool. Spring snow melt rivers, green scenery and all before the black flies come out. Our Canadian friends would not have to caravan for days to meet up.
Some of those guys are A-OK

Niagara Falls? Beaner your such a homer. Maybe Welland, and you could still go to work.
Jeez, I forgot you are moving to Niagara Falls.

You know, Erzer...you may have just hit the nail on the head with what I was hoping to put together...we will discuss it at the Dragon...

There is nothing to see in Niagara Falls so I dont recommend it. Plus, with crossing the border some might have problems from the past to haunt them.
Ohh... and in CAA the last "A" does not stand for Canada. lets get the US areas done first

Someone put Viagara Falls on the list, so I was joking when I surmised it was you. Everyones picking on me today, must be the moon or something.
The best part of Niagara is the Parkway along the shore. The town itself has been seedy for a long time, at least the tourist areas. Someone needs to spruce that area up.
After the mountain GTG anything else would be seem flat.

Guys, I'm all for Niagra falls Canada but if you can read............ I distinctly referred to Northern New York state. One of the most beautiful places around that time of year.
Anyone want to visit Niagra Falls Canada We could surely make that journey.
As to the Canada references, That is America and this is an American event. Until today I had some silly notion that this was a cohesive North American family here.
Silly me.

don't know what the bold was about, but a gtg before the big race event would be doable. That way, if you want to go afterwards...go for it...but not volunteering for 2012....2013 is a big maybe...
re: Crossfires Across America -August 2012 - RENO / LAKE TAHOE, NV ?
I would have to say, as there have been no responses for taking up the task of organizing another event, having this event for three straight years is not going to happen. I'd say close this thread or at least remove as a sticky.
Out here.

There are some great windy roads in Northern NV and Northern CA. You can find places outside of Sacramento and Reno for really great prices. Heck you can get great group rates at pretty much any of the casinos in the Reno Tahoe Area. A Tahoe one would be great! Tons to do the casinos up there are hurting bad so you could get some great room rates. There are also great cabin deals during the summer. My wife and I rent a lodge room up there in the summer and it is all fancy Porsches, Ferraris and our little xfire. Would be great to not be the odd man out for once haha.
