Newbie out here in FL
Hows it going everyone? Just checking in. Me and my wife recently started working on a 2005 Crossfire Srt6. It was my little brothers car, which unfortunately means its been super negelected for a majority of its life. But, the wife wanted to learn about cars, so we decided to get it off of him and fix it up to a like new state. It had been sitting for around 3 years and is pretty rough around the edges (REALLY rough) but its slowly starting to get better. Ill be snooping in here for lots of knowledge on the car, already got a few pieces of info from here, so its paid off well so far. Anyways, Ill keep a thread of all Ive done so you can see how it starts and where it ends, not that they ever do end lol
Re: Newbie out here in FL
Oh believe me, I know... hurt to see it like this for so long, but he wouldnt ever sell it to me. Either way, have got quite a bit done so far, just trying to get it driveable now.

Unless there was a blown engine I expect it is well worth the effort to to bring it back to life. Change the oil before you even try and start it. If you have started the engine change the oil before you do so again. Actually, all of the fluids will need to be replaced. Brake fluid and coolant next.
I see the amount of leaves covering the windshield cowl. It's very common for those debris to get under the cowl and plug up the three drain plugs (left, center, and right) in the cavity under the cowl. That will cause rain water to back up and enter the air inlet on the passenger side and go down into the blower motor and then into the passenger foot well. The cabin air filter is next to the blower motor and is likely full of debris as well. Unfortunately, when the water gets into the footwell it can also corrode the radio amplifier connectors and even damage the amplifier itself which are under the carpet. There may be mold under the carpet from that as well. A 50/50 mixture of white vinegar will kill off that mold. It will smell of vinegar for a while but will clear up after a couple of weeks.
It's given the battery will need to be changed. A defective battery causes all types of problems on these cars. The negative battery cable tends to corrode at the connectors on either end. It's a simple replacement bolting to the fender. The cranshaft position sensor is a very common failure item from age and heat. It will cause the car to not start or stall while driving. They are cheap enough you should buy and replace it. You must buy the BOSCH brand. Its well documented on the forum that other brands have proven to cause problems.
Good luck with the restoration. Many of the forum members will be glad to provide support and guidance.

Definitely need to pull the cowl and check the drain holes as Id imagine they are well clogged.
Other than that, Ive just got the seats back from being reupholstered, got my aoz double din kit in for the dash, and a few other odds and ends. Will be refinishing the wheels and wrapping the car after that (paint is beyond saving) but its a slow process as Im teaching my wife how to do everything and letting her really get involved. Changed out the door bungee cords with some new red ones yesterday to make the nets functional again so little by little its getting there lol
