New to the forum, would like some advise
My wife bought me a 04 white crossfire with 105k miles on it at a Tampa auto auction. I took it to a MB service shop because I had a check engine light on and the BAS light would come on then off, they told me the forced air pump was causing the CI light but could not help me with the BAS light because it was not on at the time of service. When I turn right I can hear a rubbing noise and hard rights the wheel jerks. They also wanted me to pay 400 dollars to change my valve cover gaskets because they are leaking, I just moved here from Nevada and this is the only place I have ever lived where I don't have a garage to work on this myself and figure it out, if anyone knows a place in Miami that you can take your car and work on it or something like that I would appreciate any help and if these problems sound like something I need to fix right away I'll eat the service fees if needed. My other cars have been Chevy trucks and ford SUV s so issue like this where normal and nothing to worry about right away. Thanks for your patience with a crossfire newbie.
Re: New to the forum, would like some advise
The CEL regarding the air pump is most likely a burnt relay in the RCM, search for RCM
The leaking valve covers are most likely the little valve cover vents, that's a DIY, search for valve cover leak.
( use tools / advance search - or use the link below .... )
as to the rubbing noise, no clue other than maybe the plastic fender liner ?
as to the wheel jerking, not a clue.

88 UNDERSTANDING THE FEATURES OF YOUR VEHICLE
Synchronizing ESP
If the power supply was interrupted (battery disconnected
or discharged), the BAS/ESP malfunction indicator
light may be illuminated with the engine running. To
re-synchronize the ESP, and cancel the malfunction indicator
light, the steering angle sensor will need to be
recalibrated.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position.
2. Rotate the steering wheel to the center position.
3. Rotate the steering wheel completely to the left, and
then rotate the steering wheel completely to the right.
4. Bring the steering wheel back to the center position.
5. The BAS/ESP malfunction indicator light will go out.
If the BAS/ESP malfunction indicator light is still illuminated,
the vehicle should be serviced at an authorized
dealer.

Buddy, I work at an "Institute of Higher Learning".
I receive advice from people with zero experience 24/7.
I pass it on for free!
An observation:
Has anyone ever noticed that 95% of all college professors drive beat-up, rusty POS's and dress like the homeless?
Does anyone have any idea what these people are paid?
I thought not.

Yes that's true and most of them cant find their @$$ with both hands. I have worked at a state college for 25 years.
Re: New to the forum, would like some advise
One of my dad's common sayings is "No college should offer a degree in Business, none of them can run their own" And from what I have found, that is correct, every interaction with any college about money and being treated as a customer is a new and unpredictable experience.
