Default Loud aftermarket muffler

Hello,
New member with a just purchased 2005 crossfire limited roadster.
The muffler on this car is a master flow. Oem muffler was replaced with this one.
It is TOO loud! On highway can't even hear the radio!
Looked up OEM replacement mufflers, 800/1100 on internet! Ouch!
What would be a good replacement, something almost as quit as the OEM muffler?
Thanks firemanken

I went with the OBX Racing catback.
A bit louder than OEM, but a much nicer tone and not too loud at cruise.
2 versions : $399 for shiny, $350 for black

That system has a resonator to keep drone down..

Yep, I was kinda taken aback when I saw the resonator upon opening the box, but it is no problem on the install and does keep the drone down.

BTW, the OBX is a Chinese clone of the Borla system.

If your looking for kinda loud,I have 2 new still in box Moroso Spiral Flow SS (94054) for a great price of $100.00 plus shipping. These are 2 1/2" inlet and outlet. I ended up using two 3" Moroso Spiral Flow. Squirrel Crusher

That is a good price but suspect I'll only need one. SRTs has duals but NA has a single pipe out of the collector.

ps many times when an exhaust drones or resonates, the tailpipe ended too soon, should extend 3-6" past the lip of the fascia.

I'm a slow learner but eventually I do learn the hard way. My exhaust tips extend 4" past my cars fascia. They look so good. That's sticking out just enough for the tips to burn circles into your leg. Skin smells bad when it's burning. Expecially bad when you know it's your own skin. My worst burn was when I was wearing my new pants. I should have checked my pants material tag before unloading groceries. The melted man made material looked like a cookie cutter went thru my pants then melted onto my skin. I found that I can scream. Most all my scares are now gone. I have learned to stand back when unloading anything from the trunk. Squirrel Crusher

Sounds like you were running lean, exhaust tip should not get that hot unless something odd is happening.

When I was young my dad had a vette' with side pipes. When my step mom would get out she would hit her leg and burn little diamonds into her calves. I loved when that happened.

I was once stupid enough to let my sister's best friend take my new Triumph Bonneville for a spin.
All went well until she returned, unmounted and the bike started falling over away from her.
She hung on and her feet slipped on the gravel allowing both shins to join with the exhaust.
Had to take her to the hospital.
I DIDN'T love that.

Grats on your purchase.
Does it still have the resonators and cats?
Duals all the way back or a 2 into 1 then dual tips?
Have any idea which Flowmaster muffler?
Pic of case and case length we can figure it out.
Do you have a sound clip for inquiring minds?

Haha been there.
With loading and unloading luggage every week, I got a couple marks on my leg from my tips.
For some reason driving down the interstate for 3 hours the exhaust can get hot, huh who would have thought.

Curious why you drive 200 miles or so each way every week.
Work ?
If so, shouldn't you just move ?

Could always take my 11 mpg dodge in winter, but always grab the SilverFox.
Past 2 years I had 275 gmax on rear with some tractor weights under my luggage, a month ago got new 285 dws on rear, will figure out how they compare within the next month, the 275 gmax's with a little weight surprised me on winter driving.

TY Speedy,
Flow master #325108 Is approximately 12 long total with muffler 8"
Has cats then 2 into 1 with dual OEM tips. There is no resonator.
What do you think of the suggestion of OBX cat back?
Also have a price of $660. For a Magna Flow Preformance cat back # 16633
Are these two cat backs loud?
A little history. Purchased the crossfire roadster to replace the MC I totaled 2 months ago! Walked away from it (just sore as hell for a month) Finished with MC after 30 yrs!
Thanks,
Firemanken

That Flowmaster race muffler I bet is loud. All depends on that tone your are going for, some have a higher pitch than others, I don't have experience with the obx, mufflers but would like to hear sound clips of this motor with different exhausts if you have time, could email or text a quick sound clip.
I am thinking about going with a borla pro xs dual in / out 2.25 deleting the resonators installing the muffler there and the dual 2.25 back from there to eliminate that sharp bend in front of the muffler it had now, the rest of my exhaust is great but that bend is rusting bad and starting to pinhole, will do something this year.
