although i have joined on 07-22-2015, i am just now introducing myself. Owner of a 2005 Limited Roadster White/Black with 23,000 miles when purchased, with only mod of Eurocharged remap that was well worth it. I love my car but just like others on here have to work out the little kinks that make it almost human and i am sure female. I also own a 2003 Mercedes Benz E320 which shares similar drivetrain.

I also had to purchase an iCarsoft i980 scanner and would be happy to help any one who needs their SRS light reset or a scan done.

From what I could see the iCarsoft i810 was the model to get.
I find it a bit confusing.

Yes i have used it and do agree that it is a bit confusing even after a few diagnostics. I needed it for an SRS light that came on after opening the steering wheel for a small screw that was shorting the horn (too lazy to disconnect the battery), and I also for my E320 with the typical SRS light on. I also have a cheap bluetooth OBD2 Auto Scanner that works very well.

 

Hey! First active AZ member I've seen around, there doesn't seem to be much of a community in Phoenix. I also just did the Eurocharge remap also on my 04 manual. I'm in the Northwest part of Town. I haven't had to do much repair to mine but I've done a lot of fixing of the annoying "features" of this car. Drop me a PM if you like.

I would love to compare XF quirk stories. Right now i have had to strip and repaint my under dash kicker panel and instrument cluster trim that was pealing off. Next project is tightening the steering box. I have already changed the steering damper. Have you noticed a good improvement with the remap? I will ask them to drop coolant temperature some more for our scorching summers. Although i noticed some improvement it still creeps to 95C in traffic.

I am also looking for an easy re-paint solution for the interior although my paint flaking is minor enough that I can sponge paint it.

This looks nice and easy except I can't get the paint company to make my color, I guess the Mercedes interior did not come in a light gray.

I was skeptical about the remap, but I am happy with the results. I bought the remap kit on a special and for $250 I don't think there is anything else out there that would quicken the car up as much. i.e. exhaust, cai etc.

Next I am considering a sprint booster, but haven't found install instructions that were very detailed so I am still hesitant.

 

Welcome to our spirited conversations. I resided in Sierra Vista, AZ for 8 years. The weather was darn near perfect and I question my sanity for leaving. It's perfect for sports cars and motorcycles.

 

I'm going to be running down through Arizona next weekend. I will be in Las Vegas, and will be taking a side trip through Phoenix down to Yuma and visiting several odd sites and museums. Anything I should look out for in the areas?

Not sure what route your taking, but here are some things that might be on your way;

Oatman AZ - A ghostown over run with donkey's
Montezuma's Castle - Indian Ruins that look like a Castle built into a cliff face
Biosphere 2 - A fully enclosed "Earth" for testing space missions
Titan Missile Museum - The only surviving Titan missile and silo to survive decom
Old Plank Rd - Ruins of a wooden road that connected Yuma to San Diego
Algodones - Sand dunes where they filed Star Wars and Stargate, looks like the Sahara, no plant life in this part of the desert.

Oh and if your planing on the Hoover Dam, they built this stupid bypass so you cant drive on the dam anymore and it completely blocks your view of one of the wonders of the world, you would never even know its there. So be sure to take the tour, its the only way you can still drive on top of the Dam.

I love that part of the country, been there several times since my parents moved to Las Vegas from Pittsburgh area 15 years ago. Drove across the country a couple times with out 1967 El Camino as well. Mainly the RT66 & RT40 Corridor, and up through northern Texas to Kansas. I'd say between Arizona and New Mexico, some of the most amazing and varying landscapes. But it takes until you get to St. Louis until you really start seeing trees everywhere and then the constant hills and valleys of PA makes you feel home.

I had seen it, but did not want to wait for it to be shipped to start the project. I just went to my local ACE hardware and bought a can of satin Krylon for plastic for $6. It gave me excellent results and blends in perfectly with the rest of the interior. I had to strip the kicker panel of the old paint and just sprayed two coats on. It is not as smushy to the touch but will without a doubt last much longer.

Thank you! I have heard good things about Sierra Vista, but never got a chance to go that far south. Shame on me. Although I have owned several cool convertibles before, I think a topless road trip (car, not me) is now due more than ever.

Arizona does not look too kindly on nudity. I once almost got arrested for skinny dipping at a very remote lake shore location. The rangers must have had extremely powerful binoculars to be able to see me. Haha!
