The AMC pattern TH400s from Jeeps have some quirks. First and most obvious, the output shaft. You'll need a 2wd th400 output shaft and tail housing from a GM application. There is a long, a short, and a bolt-on yoke truck style, make sure you get the one you're after. 1974 was the first year for the AMC specific TH400 case and the only year that had speedometer provisions machined into the case. The casting is the same for the '75-79 case but will need machine work if you want a speedometer. The AMC case TH400 was designed with a 15 degree offset, it will look like the trans is installed crooked, just something to be aware of if you're a perfectionist. And finally, the internals in the AMC case TH400 are not as strong as the common TH400 and will need to be upgraded depending on how much power you are planning on making.
