Steering Wheel
Steering Wheel
Need some help here. I have a 04 Coupe. It has the usual leather wrapped wheel.
Something that really bugs me is STICKY HANDS. In the hot weather the wheel in
the car gets sticky which, RIGHT, bugs me. I also have a 2012 Avalon where the top part
of the wheel is a hard plastic. No problem with this. I see that some MB SLK's have
similar wheels. Anyone know if these wheels are compatible with our Crossfires?
Thanks in advance,
Bill T.

Re: Steering Wheel
Both styles of 170 generation SLK steering wheels fit and work on Crossfires. See below.

I think I saw a SLK wheel that was not leather covered at the top. That would
work for me. I don't understand, will my XF air bag fit the 170 wheel?

That is an issue with the steering wheels, never use any type of detailing interior product. Use some rubbing alcohol on a micro fiber towel and rub it onto the steering wheel, it will remove all of the built up dirt and reduce the stickiness. Just rub it dry with another towel and you will feel the difference. Do it once a month and your issues will disappear, worked for me.
A little cheaper than a new wheel......
