I dunno'. If mine catches afire, I have enough insurance to buy a new one without the painted-over scorch marks.

I made a bracket that hangs between the "umbrella hooks" it is a chrome one that looks pretty nice in a black car. I just hang it there when I am at a gathering showing off the car. It's a throw back to the old days when I used go to car shows and they required you to have an extinguisher.

RickZ, what's that ****-looking thing on the back of the driver's seat?

I was wondering the same thing. It's the cloth seat so maybe it's the lumbar support adjustment?

On the Base model we have manual seats and that is the **** you turn to adjust the back of the seat. I wish that the seat back had a release so that the back folded forward because a short guy like me has a lot of room behind the seat (well not a lot, but some), but there is no easy access to it.

Hi there,
thank you all for the idea. I believe that a fire extinguisher is both a safety measure and a sporty mod. So I went for it, too. I riveted the housing on top of the beam behind the seats

It holds firm. Then placed a silver extinguisher I found online (it matches the rest of the interior)

And this is the final result. I quite like it, it gives the XF a tinge of extra sportiveness, don't you think?

Well then, let's set the road on fire. ;-)

I think it looks great. My only concern would be that it would become a projectile in a collision.
I believe that's why the o.p. mounted his behind the seat.

That is a very good point. To be honest, I thought about that but prioritised aesthetics. I guess will have to resort to careful driving and remove the cylinder from its housing when I push the pedal hard. 😉
