Bon Voyage!
Bon Voyage!
I'll be disconnected for the next 2 weeks from the forum and for sure, I'll be missed. I'm off on a grand adventure. (vacation) First time in middle earth! Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Hungary etc. Wine tasting river cruise with detours. In reality, it's a butter up the wife trip so I can buy whatever Ground Control comes out with. Just thinking ahead. I'm dismal at taking pictures but I'll try and break the habit and document the trip. So back to packing and saying goodbye to the little one. (Yorkie)

Re: Bon Voyage!
First day pictures and can you believe it a Crossfire. The chrome was blacked out on the console and it has the back up sensors. The pictures are of the hotel, old church that too 1000 years to build, view of Prague from the hill that the church and presidents palace are and Charles bridge. The local beer is tasty, the weather is 40º and a bit cloudy, the Hotel is nice, no energy saving devices. The hot water is burning hot, the water pressure is at least 60 psi which is nice when your used to less. All the streets are narrow it seems but were in the old town. Were mostly walking around de jet lagging ourselves.

The beer is great, I get it here sometimes.
Re: Bon Voyage!
The church had several interruptions during the construction. The older section is from the 14th century. Charles the IVth, princes, family are buried underneath, normal for Europe I guess. I'm learning about the Polish/Czech/Slavic/Austria Hungary/Germany etc. history of land grabbing and love/hatred. Lots of Skoda's, BMW's, MB's, VW's (work vehicles) Renault's and Volvos. A few Porsches ….. no yellow cars anywhere.
Tonight we dined at a restaurant whose name translates to Blue Duck. I had goose and it was divine. If your in old Prague remember the name. It's worth the trouble to find it. Great food, good price, excellent service ….. they put music for american tourists (beach boys etc.) Only possible strike against them depending on your tastes. No pictures, sorry.

Re: Bon Voyage!
Today, by some unexplained phenomenon I slipped into a conscience state so I'm posting a few words. I'm on a river cruise (drunk all the time) and between the 10 AM wine tasting and drinks included with the meals, I find myself at a loss for words. The Czeck women are stunning from 50 feet but the closer they come the longer the noses and homely the are. Regansburg was tasty with the sausages and honey mustard dijon mustard ….. and beer. Today …. well yesterday actually, we were at a star base on the edge of the frontier. Today we arrived at Passau. Tomorrow we sail to Linz Austria. If I'm lucid …. unlikely, I'll update with a picture of my retarded brother that we keep in the closet. (family secret) Cheers from central earth!

Re: Bon Voyage!
That is the Church of St. Ludmila
It took some guts and engineering courage to build a subway tunnel under such an historic building as THAT! Of course, by their standards, a 121 year old church is nothin.
Those of us from the USA (or even Canada) cannot conceive of the thrill of walking by a building that has been standing for 600 years. (This one is not nearly that old, but my point is still valid, you will likely go by those 5 times older in your travels.)
Re: Bon Voyage!
Over 800 years since it's major rebuild after a fire:
St. George's Basilica at Prague Castle in Prague
I've got to retire and see the world.
