I worked with a guy whose brother was on the SWAT team here and he laughed at the average beat cops with their guns, he said they were scared of them and could not hit a barn door six feet from it.
Reading the news reports in the paper here it seems he is correct, many rounds fired in some situations, the target seems to get away or is just scratched.
Toronto does not have a Dirty Harry on the street it seems.
Montreal on the other hand once had a cop whose name alone would make most suspects surrender, others stupidly opted to be targets.

DOC, Well said, could not agree more with your statements on the positives of a wheel gun for personal defense. Also concur with what you said reguarding the need to advise an officer on a traffic stop if you have a CCW permit. I also agree with the other comments reguarding law abiding citizens taking the necessary steps to protect themselves and their loved ones... To quote AL Capone,,, You can get more done with a kind word and a gun than a kind word alone.

I know someone who's girlfriend said the same thing to him. The girlfriend is a cop and said most cops are horrible shots. Many are not into guns and will only shoot when qualifying with their firearms. Read on some forum that if given a choice of a new pen or new gun, most cops would pick the pen because that is what they would use.

I'm glad I created this thread and have received all of this sound advice and great tips! I really appreciate it, gents!
Doc, one of the first things they told us in class, if we get pulled over we should do the following.
Role down all the windows, turn on all the interior lights, place your hands on the steering wheel and wait for instructions. Then present the officer with DL, insurance and CHL with details of where the gun is. I'm not trying to get shot in The-6 , think of the resale value.
