Whaaaaaat?????
How come my car has depreciated to less than half what I paid for it and my insurance has increased more tan 20%
I asked and was told that the car cost a lot to repair. To which I retorted, "excuse me, but as the Blue Book value goes down you simply find it easier to total my car, hand me a tiny check and walk away?"
I haven't gotten an answer to the question.
Guys, they will total an SRT in Florida for a front bumper and driver's fender replacement. Bluebook wholesale prices hover at Ten Grand so it doesn't take much.
Yet, the cost to insure goes up every six months. Everytime. First car I ever owned to which that happened.
Yes, I will be looking at alternative carriers.

Now I must put in a discalimer here. We have apolicy that is some 40 years old and cannot be cancelled. One cannot buy it anymore. And we have been well served by Allstate.
But we are considering putting the Crossies on another plan. I mean why not, they are gonna total just about anything serious anyway. Might as well go with something more reasonable.
Sorry SRT SIX, but I cannot go with AARP. They get not a dime from me.

I'm told the Crossfireis a higher risk group because they are "sports" cars. Apparently the car, and it's drivers, is involved disproportionaly in accidents. And apparently my insurer doesn't see "Top Gear."
So, All you guys our there driving you crossies at 130 MPH thru Arkansas or running them into moutain sides, Knock it off!

Seems to be an "international" problem. Just got my renewal and rates are up 20%. Wish we had Haggarty in Ontario, not yet but may be coming soon. On the other hand my Collector car insurance is only 2% of the appraised value (car must be 25 years old). Hopefully I'm still here when the Crossfires are 25 years old!

- but price was still great.
Re: Insurance bill came @&%$^#*#(@*$^
What doesn't help is these damn insurance companies are now starting to raise rates by factoring in credit checks/ratings. Even if you have very good credit, they find a way to punish you. Just a bunch of BS if you ask me. Regardless, we dropped USAA and went with one for educators Horace Mann.
The other thing these scum bags do is blame it on non insured and while I can see that, why do they think some (not all) don't get insurance to begin with?

Ironically I had Allstate for 22 years. I had an Audi A6 sedan insured and was paying $115 per month for full coverage with a $1,000 deductible. I have no tickets, no accidents and a credit score over 800. I switched to State Farm when I bought the Crossfire two weeks ago, and now have a $250 deductible with full coverage for $83!
Suffice it to say, Allstate sucks!

I still have a life policy with them, but that they do. My dad used to sell for them years ago, I hope he wasn't Franc's agent, no matter, my dad told me to get away from Allstate over 20 years ago as their service was really going down hill. He recommended American Family, but their rates are still to high for what my wife gets.

I had nothing but bad experiences with allstate. Customer service was AWFUL, and their discount program is a joke (I had to call multiple times to finally get them to send me a check for my discounts).
Stay away from them at all costs. Worst experience I've ever had with an insurance company (and for that matter, top 5 worst experiences with a corporation EVER).

After reading the various replies on this thread, had to go look at my coverage on the '07 XFire Limited Coupe. We have coverage via Nationwide Insurance. Full coverage, $500 deductible, towing, rental car when being repaired, multi-car discount, long-term customer, multi-line customer, etc. Turns out this costs us $304 & change every 6 months. Compared to others in this thread, feel somewhat fortunate, but will be watching when next statement comes!
Re: Insurance bill came @&%$^#*#(@*$^
Hagerty costs me just over $400 per year with 0 deductibles, and full service roadside assistance for my NA. The car must be garaged in your own residence, it must be an extra vehicle compared to drivers in your household, and with no mileage limitations. Driving records are very important when first signing up for sure. I had to have my son sign a 'driver exclusion' form before they would insure me.
Two people tried to get there Crossfires covered since I have, with no luck. I don't know why.
I have been with Allstate for a long time with great rates. The Crossfire was very expensive with Allstate when I bought it, that is why I went with Hagerty. Allstate has treated me well over the years but fortunately I don't need to contact them often.
Now I think Allstate knows my son by name! But they have never given him any trouble settling his errors in judgement. His rates are back down now and actually very good. No complaints.
One thing I keep hearing at the drinking fountain is that if you are with one Auto Insurance company for more than 5 years, you are paying too much. There could be some truth to it.
