Re: Insurance bill came @&%$^#*#(@*$^
You guys are all a bunch of "Cry Babies".
I was paying $1160.00 a year for my AMX back in 1970, and that was with no collision coverage. Nationwide wanted $1520.00 a year for full coverage.
I was making $3.36 an hour back then, and remember, those were "1970" dollars.
All kidding aside, I think insurance rates for our cars is crazy. Mine is higher now (a little over $800.00 a year thru Nationwide)) than it was 2 years ago when the car was worth more.
I've been with them for 43 years, maybe it's time to look elsewhere.

When I sat down with my agent about the high cost of the Crossfire, she looked it up and said it was mainly due to the lack of aftermarket parts available for our car - the OEM parts are more expensive because there is no competition for price.
She could insure a Vette, valued twice the price of a Crossfire for way less money due to aftermarket parts - even if they are not used.

Here's another twist on car and/or homeowner's coverage. I had an issue a few years back with my current provider (Nationwide) and started shopping around for another provider. Turns out they asked right off if I had filed a claim in the past 3-yr period. Apparently, in SC (maybe elsewhere), if a claim with your current insurance provider was filed in the past 3 years, no other insurance firm would issue a new policy! Just another example of how the insurance firms, along with the banks, are about as crooked as anything out there. Don't get me started!

Two people tried to get there Crossfires covered since I have, with no luck. I don't know why.
I have been with Allstate for a long time with great rates. The Crossfire was very expensive with Allstate when I bought it, that is why I went with Hagerty. Allstate has treated me well over the years but fortunately I don't need to contact them often.
Now I think Allstate knows my son by name! But they have never given him any trouble settling his errors in judgement. His rates are back down now and actually very good. No complaints.
One thing I keep hearing at the drinking fountain is that if you are with one Auto Insurance company for more than 5 years, you are paying too much. There could be some truth to it.

If they are going to pay to repair your car back to pre-damage shape, do you want them paying for junk china built parts, or do you want them putting back on the same parts that the factory installed originally?
Doesn't matter to me if its a Crossfire, or a Caprice.

Franc!!!
I think I can help you out my ole' friend...
As you know I work for GEICO. If I told you how little I pay, I'd have to kill everyone that reads this thread... J/K, I pay $69 a month for mine. That's with $500 deductibles and $100,000 property damage and $300,000 medical. Clean driving record of course.
But, I can offer you a employee referral discount code...
And here you go...
136283
It is only valid when you call the referral #:
1-800-841-3000
BTW, I had GEICO insurance before I worked for them, and they were by far and away the cheapest for the SRT-6. I only get a 11% employee discount, so I only pay about $65 less now per six months than I did before.

Well, I got curious and had to check mine. I have GEICO, and pay 388.50 every 6 months with 500 deductible. I also have an 05 Honda Odyssey, and it runs 370.00 every 6 months. That is still quite a bit for 2 cars since I am the only driver IMO. But, what can you do. I listed the Odyssey as my daily driver, and the SRT as occasional use.

Went to wash Crumpy's SRT on a berautiful spring day. 80 Degrees and sunny. Put the hose to the car to rinse off the pollen dust and the windshield cracked about 12 inches right in front of the rear view mirror.
That is my second spontaneous crack on a Crossfire.
$660.00 for the Pilkington. I guess we are even for this year.

Also, while I was looking, I decided to get a quote from Geico for my homeowners policy as they offer a multi line discount. As I was filling out the online application and got to the end of the form, it stated that the information would be sent to Travelers. I did not know that Travelers was owned by Geico..... And guess who I have had my homeowners insurance with for many many years. You got it..... Travelers. So, instead of finishing the quote request, I went to the discounts page and requested a multi line discount, and it was applied within minutes. It was only a $45 discount a year, but that is better than a sharp stick in the eye. Just to think I could have been getting this discount for years. LOL

I'm sorry don't have time to read this entire thread. I work for Allstate, not the cheapest in town but we do good by our customers. That said I insure my car with Grundy. There are certain conditions but I was paying about 1200$ a year on Allstate and with a 1000$ deductible on Collision. With Grundy I have a zero deductible on both Collision and Comprehensive and pay around 250$ a year. Hagerty is another company you might want to check for lower rates but again there are conditions. I drive my car less than 2500 miles a year and its garage kept.
My only other suggestion is sit down and talk to your agent. Go over your policy before it renews. Make sure you are getting all of their available discounts. Don't listen to your friends who say they are paying.".......". Your situation is gonna be different than theirs and no two are alike. That will just frustrate you.
Never Enough don't forget me!

Have to 2nd, 3rd,..Hagerty.
They will only insure the SRT6 as an exotic. Otherwise it won't go, you have to tell them the low production numbers as well. If you can get past all this then it's only $400 a year. I have mine insured for up to 5,000 miles of usage a year. Considering I only have 8,000 miles in 3 years, I'll be fine.
