Who Has Gotten the Most Speeding Tickets?
Who Has Gotten the Most Speeding Tickets?
As I was paying my car registration tonight it occured to me that I have not gotten a speeding ticket in the two years I've had my Crossfire. Since we've had "How fast have you accelerated?" and "How fast have you driven?" type threads I decided to start one on speeding tickets. So,who has gotten the most speeding tickets in the Crossfire? Who amongst us is the champion leadfoot? Do tell! Post your accomplishments!
Re: Who Has Gotten the Most Speeding Tickets?
No Speeding tickets, but...
I got three moving violations in a single stop... The thing is though that first of all I did not tailgate anyone as there was just about no one on the road and I did use my turn signals... O well...
New York City 1AM Monday
-Tailgating
-Unsafe Lane Change
-Failure To Use turn Signals

- Following to close (which I wasn't as there was only two other cars around)
- Speeding - 69 in a 50 mph zone
Total costs of tickets = $240
A couple of weeks after that I get a notice from DMV that I have to pay additional fines of $200 per year for three years for a total of $600 !!!!
TOTAL COST FOR BLOOMBERG'S CITY = $840
I HATE NEW YORK CITY!!!!
Re: Who Has Gotten the Most Speeding Tickets?
....not yet with crossfire....
4 in the last 2 months:
2 in dubai
2 in qatar (i was driving on the motorway in the middle of desert totally alone at night back from the work site driving to the hotel in a Jeep Cherokee at 187 km/h)
In italy now is crazy.... You are loosing point on your driving licence for nothing and paing untill 2000 euro.. and speed violation are the biggest earn of cities and small village. They are changing all the speed limit. Lower limit=more money. But you'll never find a poilce man outside a discoclub checking for drunk people.. ..the only good prevention of car incident...
Sorry if I gave vent to my idea..
ciao!

Re: Who Has Gotten the Most Speeding Tickets?
That is what REALLY frosts my a$$. It's not about law enforcement or public safety, it's ALL about making money. Bastards!
I get tons of speeding tickets. I honestly have no idea how many I've had. None so far in my Crossfire, but I've only had it for 3 months.
I get lots of tickets because I live in a unique area. I live right on the Ohio border of PA. I do most of my driving in Ohio. When you get a ticket in Ohio (as a PA driver) all you have to do is pay the fine. You don't get any points on your license and your insurance doesn't go up. So you can see why I get a lot of them. I see it as my "drive fast tax".

I do business with many local municipalities, and there is no question that most of them see enhanced traffic law enforcement as a prime source of new revenues, particularly through unmanned cameras and similar technical devices. So real traffic lawbreakers go uncaught and unpunished, but a kid in a fast car going [safely] just over the speed limit gets hammered financially. It is disgusting, but it is happening more and more as cities and towns discover how easy it is to do and how many contractors are clamoring for a piece of the business through their "monitoring fees."

In BC , if you get a couple tickets they surcharge you an addtional amount equal to the ticket and payable before receiving any motor vehicle services. I think the minum ticket is 150.00 now.
They used to offer a 10%/year safe driving discount however they changed that to 5%/year while a provincial nursing strike was on. People found out at time of licence/registration renewal.. Now they are going back three years for "at risk" drivers should they get any additional infractions from time of the mailed warning. Insurance companies are only happy receiving money, and make everyone feel guilty or label them bad drivers when they collect on a service they paid for.
Some of the retired people who seldom drive have the maximum discount accumulated from years past, and can get into 3 accidents before their premiums go up. A kid could have a 400% surcharge to pay after just a couple. A new driver with zero collision theft, or comprehensive coverage will pay 1200/year.
Young drivers start out zero rated, and have a graduated licence program restricting number of occupants etc. I feel sorry for them because if they get into an accident their premums rocket.
My son drove some kids home who were too drunk to drive, on two separate occasions and was given a ticket for too many occupants. he was doing the responsible thing. He now has to drive accident and ticket free for two additonal years. He has no accidents no speeding tickets, and is a very competent car and motorcycle driver.
To be fair, speeding tickets should be rated according to income. Currently the rich don't care because their money will buy them out of anything. And who is to say that paying money is restitution. I think there should be the option of doing community work. A kid working part-time making 8:00/hr has to work 30 hrs just to pay his ticket let alone the insurance.
I think many people become old in mind and body and forget what it was to be young. But the world if full of people who love rules and regulations. They need them , it's what defines them. If you want to be reminded of how many rules we have to follow go to a place like Thailand where you can leave your passport and drive off on a motorcycle. No licence required.
We have all these cars capable of high speeds and no-where to drive them. How much sense does that make? If there was any seriousness to curbing speeding, cars could be equipped with a chip that controls the maximum speed per a signal received from hwy transmitters. Speeding tickets = tax
It's a proven fact that accidents are minimized by more traffic light enforcement and not by stopping a lone vehicle speeding down the highway.
The good point about drunken drivers rings especially close to home for me. I was the victim of one when I was only 17.
i know, i know we have choices...fall in line like a bunch of lemmings or pay the price.
God I feel good after that B session....That was worth 5 cents.

Now THAT'S tough! $165 for going 2 or 3 kph over the limit?! Here in the states they usually let you slide if it's anything below 5 or 10 over. Traffic cameras, the new scourge of the highways!
But, I digress....no tickets for the past 15 years though I've been pulled over thrice recently all for 'rolling stops'. Rolling stops my ***, here in town I was pulled over by one of the newbie cops for what must have been a roll of about an centimeter. Turns out he used to work with my wife so we had a big laugh & all was right with the world. He told me he just wanted to see what the car looked like.
Funny, ha,ha! I wasn't laughing when he pulled me over.
I swear, like Maxxm's comments above, a lot of it is just to generate revenue. Get a ticket here in town & it goes right into the cities' coffers.

Re: Who Has Gotten the Most Speeding Tickets?
My mother and I were on a first-name basis with the juvi judge when I was 16 -- 18, the only reason I still had a license was no computers back then, by the time they came after my license for 13 tickets in two years, I was living in Germany. By the time I moved back years later, it was all old news.
Got a few in Germany, plus some in the UK when I lived there.
Amazingly, didn't get any driving "chase" for Buffum in the Audi rally days for five years.....did get a couple in the UK during the RAC in 86 and 88, one on Cyprus during the Euro rally there.
None recently in the states, altho the photo radar thing is getting out of hand out here in Phoenix area..........
I save my really fast driving for the track.....doing some NASA track days........
