I think there should be a voting committee. Maybee take our voted top 30 and then have the unbiased group sort out the final 12, since there are several beutiful shots of several cars ie. flyboy.

 

If we are unable to supply photos this go-around, can we be notified when the calendar is available for purchase? I'd be interested in buying at least one.

So if you see one in the gallery that you like, PM the owner and tell them to email it to me. Sorry, I can't go through the whole gallery and request photos from everyone. I'm busy enough trying to keep track of all the submissions!

 

I also like the idea of an 18 month calendar. But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves.

I like the idea of a panel picking the finalists from the top 20 or 30, but I think that will just add unnecessary delay to the process. I'd like to get these calendars to everyone for Feb 1st. That might be unrealistic, but I'm gonna try. Trust me to make the final decisions on which pics make it. I've worked in the print industry, so I have an eye for what will work and what won't. I will do my best to get the best variety of colors, coupes/roadters and SRT's. I will also lean towards the pics that will print best. If the printer tells me that the original file won't cut it, I'll drop that photo and use the next most popular one that will work.

 

Another thing to consider is how MANY we will need to have printed. I know the printer will want to push for volume to keep the price low. So I'll work with them to make it work out best for us price-wise. I'm not planning to skimp on quality though. I want these beauties reproduced on quality glossy card stock - just like any calendar you would purchase at a book store.

I'm guessing that they will cost less than $30, and I'd like to keep it less than $20.

Those of you that work in the print industry hit me up with an estimate. Assume a 15 month calendar (twelve normal months and an extra page for Jan/Feb/Mar of 2009, and a full color cover front and back) - also assume 11" by 8.5" for the size of each page.

 

Whatever the cost is I want one of these when they are available. It may only be a 12 or 15 month calendar but I will own it until I die. Then it will be hanging by my casket at my wake with a sign that says "His favorite car".

Don't lose track of the Print On Demand service of CafePress. Their basic calendar, described below, has a base price of just $14.99, and can be sold for that price plus shipping. It also avoids the issue of having to deal with any minimum buys, group buys, stock holding & payment handling by any individual.

They also have a vertical format calendar and an oversized calendar.

I'm pretty good at setting things up on CafePress, having done it for some other organizations. Their products are very nice, and the simple fact that it handles all fulfillment, payment, returns (rare that they happen) and stocking make it an attractive option.

 

Good points Display_Name. I was checking out CafePress, and I didn't see how I could set it up for our calendar. It looked like I could submit my images, and make a calendar for myself - but the part I didn't understand was how other people would be able to buy a copy of the same calendar.

Since you've done this, could you elaborate a bit?

The photos I recommend have a clear pic of the Crossfire and a scenic background. Those make the best pics for a calender.
