Default HID Lights installed

I installed Phillips 6K HID kit last week and I must admit the difference is worth every penny! I even had a friend who isn't in to cars at all comment on them before I even told him they were new. The color looks really good and the difference in performance is "night and day," literally. I couldn't be happier! The install took me about 4 hours total, but I really took my time. I ended up drilling holes in the frame and mounting the passenger side ballast with heavy duty SS screws. The Driver's side was a little more difficult. I ended up just using zip ties to secure it to the body under the headlamp housing. I am confident it will hold. I would have drilled holes and mounted it better but getting the housing out is a complete pain b/c of the bumper removal. All in all I am satisfied with my install and product choice.

I only have one small issue with the lights. The bulb out warning light comes on every time I turn the lights on. Its not a big deal but when its the only light on it just keeps bugging me. Has anyone else had this issue? Can it be corrected? I read on the SLK forums that the computer will "learn" to turn the light off after time. I don't think it will happen but its a good thought. Another fix I read about is a regulator that provides the right amount of electricity from the bulb. I would rather not buy another part but if that is the only way to fix the problem than that is what I will do.

I purchased the kit from xenondepot.com and am very happy with their service.

Default Re: HID Lights installed

i had the same problem when i installed LED white bulbs in the driving lights.
the computer measures the resistance of the bulb.
since your bulb is not hooked up directly to the bulb (but to the HID ballast), the computer assumes the light bulb has been burnt and triggers the bulb warning lamp.
what i did was to get a 3 ohm resistor from ebay and hooked it up.
so no matter what happens on that wire the resistance always measures 3 ohms.
weird thing is i also have a phillips HID kit but never got the bulb warning light on for those.

here is the link for what i bought:

please take care as these resistors change electricity to heat, and they get darn hot! i burnt my fingers several times on them
so before you turn the lights on to test them the first time.
make sure they are mounted directly to metal. because if they touch any rubbers hoses or wire etc they will melt any plastic.

If the resistor gets that hot you need one with a higher wattage value.
