Same here. I’ve had that piece in my trunk forever. Have no idea where it came from either.

It is an interior piece that covers a small area behind the seat on the vertical wall where the speaker is. If you locate the speaker (lets use the passenger side speaker behind seat), look up to let corner of where carpet on vertical wall meet the plastic, it covers the "corner" that is missing. I just found that piece as Im replacing the back speakers!

.
I found this 'foam' thing in the cowl area today while re-installing the chirping siren I replaced the 4.8v single battery into. This part was on the passenger side under the hood hinge. It is light enough to have come from either side. I was surprised it had not fallen into the squirrel fan for the Heat/AC since that is quite a large opening. I found it while making sure all 4 drains were clear (which they were). It is VERY soft foam, and it has a few letters and a MB logo on it. Any one know where it came from? The cowl will not be reinstalled if it is for a vibration abatement or needed for a particular specific reason. Thanks for input if you know what it is! .

There are other areas that have parts like this, they seal up gaps where wires pass through.
One place that has one is behind the passenger seat under the carpet and door trim, I took it out when I passed wires to and from the hatch area.
I guess it is to reduce sounds and possibly hinder air flow.

I found out where that foam piece should go when I removed the cowl cover to clean out the gutter drains and replace the siren on the SRT6 I am currently refurbishing. I will get a photo in the next few days as unfortunately I need to remove the cowl cover again. Until I can post a photo, The little tip (shown at the top of the OP's photo) pushes under the right lower lip of the windshield glass with the rest of the foam piece sticking out to support the rubber "drain grate fingers" on the cowl cover.
