Can't turn off left indicator. Illuminated solid.
Can't turn off left indicator. Illuminated solid.
Hi, I've been having problems with my indicators flashing randomly when I park my car. At first the siren used to make a noise, and then it became a croaking cricket like noise. I have read a few posts indicating that the problem might be due to the Alarm Control Module's battery running low.
Admittedly, I have had my car for approximately 10 years so I am not surprised if the battery has gone flat.
I then noticed that the indicators would flash, and then get stuck on being on solid and this was initially resolved by locking, unlocking, locking, unlocking the doors.
Now, it doesn't seem to respond and just the left indicator is left turned on. I decided to buy the 2 x Varta 3.6v batteries that are contained in the ACM (Alarm Control Module) as the ACM costs $480 AUD from Mercedes Benz. I have since disconnected and taken out the ACM from the car, but the left indicator light is still turned on.
Will the fixed ACM with new batteries resolve this? Or do you guys think that this might be an indicator fuse (which I don't know where it is located)?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys.
George.

Re: Can't turn off left indicator. Illuminated solid.
A fixed or new ACM will not fix it. It has only 3 wires running to it, +12, ground and a control wire to trigger it.
You have something screwed up in the wiring, or your ILCM ( headlight switch )
The fuses for the lights are located in the ILCM, pop the cover off the driver's side of the dash and you'll see them. ( the cover has a fuse chart )

Is the ILCM the one next to the dash when you open the door with the two flat head plastic screws holding the cover in?

Hello Ala_Xfire,
Thank you for your assistance. Here is what I did:
*Removed Alarm Control Module
*Replaced Indicator light bulb.
*Replaced the fuse in the ILCM
Since doing the above, the indicator light has resumed normal functionality. WINNING!!!
I have also dropped off the ACM and new batteries to the local electrician to fix up before re-installing it back into the car. Hence, no randomly flashing indicator lights in the meantime. WINNING AGAIN!!!
I felt like I was a mechanic and felt very masculine for it. LOL.
Thank you for all your help, you're a god-send.
