Widebody Crossfire...
Widebody Crossfire...
Hey everyone...I'm about to begin design and fabrication on a full widebody kit for my 05 base coupe. This will be completely designed and built by me. I am building this for personal taste in the style of German DTM race cars but toned down for the street. I was thinking that since I'll have to make moulds for everything so I can replace a panel if it gets damaged, how many people would be interested in buying a full kit. Just throwing this out there so any feedback is appreciated.
Re: Widebody Crossfire...
I'm still in the design phase so I have no real numbers but the fit and quality will be pretty high. A full widebody kit for a normal car ie civic, eclipse can run upwards of $2k but I'll know better one the first one is produced. That will also allow me to make corrections in the design as well as the fabrication process. I well post pics once I get something solid on paper.
Re: Widebody Crossfire...
Again, this is just an idea, I'm not sure I'll make several kits at the moment. The purpose of this thread is more or less to test the waters and see what kind of response and interest I get back from the Crossfire community. As this project progresses I'll post more information and draw close to a decision on the possibility of marketing a limited number of kits. Thanks the the interest so far. I've already done work to my car with a 2013 AMG c class front bumper mod and I am now ready to move forward with this project. However, the widebody kit will have nothing to do with the current look of the car, it will be all new design work.

Re: Widebody Crossfire...
Thank you very much. Truth is, I'm kind of being forced into rebuilding. Last Saturday night, I hit the biggest raccoon I've ever seen and it destroyed the whole front bumper, even broke the carbon splitter...it was HUGE. So I've always wanted to widebody my car anyway so...now is as good a time as any.
Re: Widebody Crossfire...
That bumper looks great, have you thought of doing a hood with a scoop?
I had the same thing happen to me on the Raccoon, I was driving my new cng civic (2k miles on it) down an old hwy at night, came up over a small hill and this guy just sat up, looked like he was 4' tall, my wife and daughter both agreed he was the biggest Raccoon we had seen. No where to go but hit him, a car was coming towards me in the opposite lane. Upon stopping I thought I got by with no damage, somehow he hit that bumper and it popped back out, but then I looked closer and it looked like a big bowling ball tunneled into my radiators (both the a/c and car). The electric fan and fan support were both damaged as well.

Re: Widebody Crossfire...
Man, I feel your pain...I am going to do a hood. It's going to be a carbon fiber hood based heavily on the AMG black series twin cold air intake hood. I've never done a carbon fiber part that big...our Crossfire hoods are huge lol but I have fabricated other carbon parts before so I'm pretty confident.
Re: Widebody Crossfire...
dude you are a really good drawer. if this ends up happening just remember who was the first to post on your thread...(aka i want dibs)
Re: Widebody Crossfire...
Btw, for anyone who is interested to see the bumper build from the beginning, install an app from the play store called Car Fiend. Search for Crossfire and you'll find me. Mine is practically the only Crossfire on there. On my profile I have posted over a hundred photos showing the entire build. Let me know what you think.
Re: Widebody Crossfire...
Hi, I personally would not be interested in a full wide body kit as I love the shape of the crossfire lines, but I really love your front bumper it gives a more modern and racy front end. I would certainly be interested in that and I am sure there will be other parts you develop that I would be interested in.
