Well, after watching the video of the hoods they have made and the structure they add for making it rigid I think they will do as good a job as Madmed. But I will be surprised if the price comes in. I saw questions on paint, shipping, and you guys have to be realistic. Paint is expensive unless you can do it yourself, and so will be the shipping. If you spend 500 bucks to get it, plan on at least if not more than another 500 bucks to get it shipped and painted. Good luck Phil. I'm trying to stay optimistic for you....lol

Fred from ViS comment regarding material:

"Material will always be fiberglass for the core and underside. This keeps cost down, and for carbon, it's a real sheet of top grade 2x2 weave carbon material."

We discussed the dilemma of getting color wrong etc.
"We don't paint or ever ship painted parts for that reason"

Quote on hood is 500-650 usd excluded shipping if we get 20 people. As of today we have approx 16 ppl but as said it is a feeler. When we have final design ready, got 20 ppl showing their interest I will do an updated thread saying it is the real deal. I will collect details from everyone interested so the list will be 100%. Regarding shipping, it is different for everyone. I have asked Fred and will see what he comes up with.

We have a car in California that will go out to the shop so they can do an exact replica of oem hood and then add our hood vents. Design is still being mocked up but it should be subtle and functional. So far the black crossfire design is a killer and easy for the manufacturer to do. Also, it has been done so clearance issues etc have already been tested.

I just took the copy from ME412 and I do not think it looks good. I think the Waldig design is the way forward. Black hood and two cut out vents bent downwards.

Why invent the wheel when Waldig already done this...

According to me this looks sooo good. I have sent Waldig a PM to see if we can use his design. Fingers xed.

I like it but I also like the idea of rear vents to allow heat from the headers to escape.

Maybe they could do an option for the clear manifold windows for those of us who don't live in over regulated Cali ?

We need cool ram air rushing into the hoods nose that will force hot air out of the hood. If it's not properly venting, then it's no better than our factory hood other than weight. We can easily have ram air engine cooling, negetive draft behind our radiator, ventaliation directly over our supercharger, and cowl induction in the hoods back. All in one hood. I've done all this on my back patio with a plastic hammer, block of wood and junk sheet metal. But it's ( NOT CARBON FIBER)!! I'm in hopes that VIS Racing and FUBU come thru with something W I L D so I can make a purchase. I can't see a working way that you can make any decent ventilation design unless you raise the hoods center over our engine. It's proven you can't improve the Dual NeedsWings intake so why try? I think we would all benefit (tasteful appearance with much needed function) with a hood like you are describing and have mocked up (holy cow where do find time and plasma torches and tig welders for all that fun stuff)! My opinion is that ViS should consult with Crusher. That is a great functional design addressing the problems that a hood could. Nice work!

^^^ this keeps my dog in the hunt.. if you have to do a double take because you just thought it looked different from stock... then it's not much different.

Squirrel crushers hood has probably the best function. But sorry for saying this, it is also the ugliest.

Waldig hood looks awesome and must have some function.

They do not undertake this option.
