Hi guys,
List is updated, 19 ppl so far.
Waldig has been kind and sent us a blueprint to use, so it has been mailed to my SRT-6 contact in CA.
Regarding joining in the groupbuy, the more the merrier, I guess now with XMAS vacations coming up the ETC will be realistically be Feb/March so I would jump on this train if I could oledoc2u.

I know I'll kick myself if the hoods turn out to be something very similar to the FirePower hood. Without double checking, is it correct that we're just putting our names in now, and that after the design is finalized (next month?) then a $200 deposit (or?) is required?
Also, is the $500 to $650 figures a very rough guesstimate, or is it fairly accurate based on estimates from VIS?

The second list is for the ones who want to truly commit themselves to this groupbuy and purchase this hood. Up until today we have 20 ppl.
Now I will put Fred at ViS against the wall asking him to give me a plan and a step by step process. We have 20 ppl, design and a blueprint, test car and a oem hood for them to make a mold out of. Personally, we could not make it any easier for them. I just emailed him and will let everyone know what I get.
500 - 650 is the quote from ViS. 150 usd added for continental shipping.
Regarding deposit, the initial was that we pay 1/3 after we got to see the first prototype. Then the rest just before delivery.
Biba, you in already?

Sorry if I'm being dense or simply missed something. VIS will make a mold from an OEM hood. Where do the blueprints fit in?
I really do apologize since I'm sure all 20 of you know exactly what to expect, but is someone then going to modify the mold? Or you decided to keep it stock (if so, I Really missed that one).

Most of us (Crossfire owners) love the stock hood and prefer one based off the stocker. Most of us have knowledge of the Waldig hood. Being newer you might not. Take a look at the first post that's been updated. The prototype from VIS hasn't been made yet. VIS makes thousands of hoods which for me, makes it easier to have faith in the final product. For me fitment comes first. My searches haven't produced complaints about the fitment. Some trouble with the weave from time to time. Search for yourself, I'll paint mine if I don't like the weave.

When I first ran across this thread, I read a fair amount of the beginning posts, including the Waldig hood and thought it was very cool. I kept reading to the point that the FirePower hood came up. Waldig's hood is great, but by following the curvature of the front of the hood, I felt that was a nice step up - though no doubt more complex to make.
I have to admit that for me $800 is a pretty fair amount - especially since I now don't know if it will be made of fiberglass or carbon fiber. Also, boy, oh boy do I wish someone would point me to the specific post which shows the final and definitive shape of the hood. And if it is being made of carbon fiber and looks similar to the FirePower one, I'm still very tempted. I have no idea how the XF will function when SoCal is having a major heat wave, but if there is a functioning exhaust type hood scoop, the added cooling effect might well come in handy.
If not, I'll quit bugging you all, but do hope they turn out to everyone's satisfaction.

Pretty much all aftermarket carbon fiber hoods are made of fiberglass, primarily, with carbon fiber laid over it (or at least that's how I understand it). Keeps the costs down from having 100% carbon fiber and still keeps the weight down.
If you're not sure about the new design but still want carbon fiber (okay, fiberglass+carbon fiber), you can buy my OEM style one
