Sure it is, and does.
You can't have everybody saying the thing looks great, it doesn't, it looks bad, not good. It not a good design, it is not aesthetically pleasing objectively.
It is certainly not an improvement on the stock grille.

Would you rather someone graft an Escort grill onto a Crossfire so you can be content?

Seems the majority posting in this thread (everyone BUT you) likes the grill and would be willing to pay a certain amount for one like it. The OP did ask who was interested, not who isn't interested in it and wants to put it down. The people who don't feel the grill style is to their taste have simply looked at the thread and moved on, seems there is something you could learn......

No I don't think an Escort ZX2 grille would look very good grafted on to a Crossfire, not that it has any real grille above the bumper.
I have both cars and keep their respective parts separate at all times.
You don't see many Crossfires on the road though when I see one with any grille (even more rare) like this I just have to ask "Why?".
When I was looking to by my Crossfire there was a halfway decent 05 Limited coupe at a dealership, it had a grille like this, I didn't even bother to consider looking at that car any further.

I think that you hit the nail on the head. I have yet to see an aftermarket grill that I liked. Maybe on some cars but the Crossfire has a lot of class and what I've seen so far looks cheesy to me, although my opinion doesn't count either.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. The application of tact in providing your opinion is definitely appreciated and welcome. Its perfectly acceptable to state that you have yet to see an aftermarket grill that fits the car in your eyes. Its not so acceptable coming into a thread asking about interest in a specific item stating "anything but stock looks like ****".

I expressed interest in the item because in my eyes it looks good on the car. I reacted to a response with no tact in likeness. If a tactful response had been provided initially, rebuttal would not have been necessary.

Hello to everyone (except ZX2 Nick & JEFASOLD . . . LOL), Here's what I've got so far . . .

My message to Karl Edmondsun on 09/23:

Hi Karl, Following up on the wire mesh grille you had made for the Crossfire. A member of CrossfireForum.org (FUBU) posted some photos of the grille. There is significant interest from forum members wanting to buy one of those grilles. Would you please e-mail me directly at RedDogNumber1@aol.com. I'm hoping you can point me toward the manufacturer. I believe we can generate a quick order for at least 10 grilles . . . possibly more. THANKS, Bob Davis FL USA

Reply from Karl Edmondsun on 09/23:

Robert that won't be a problem. The only thing is do people want all three or the main one. They can be made in black or polished stainless steel. My grille was bespoke so for the manufacturer to make more I will have to take my car back to them for a day so they can make templates. Making templates is expensive so there will have to be a reasonable quantity required. The black is the same as on Porsche and will not chip or flake. I will get a price from the manufacturer when I'm back in the uk in 12 days time.

Also here are a couple more photos from Karl's Facebook page:

Note: If we do go forward getting some of these grilles made, I will work with the manufacturer to have them re-work the lower arc of that upper grille to improve the fit. Also I will ask that they eliminate that little emblem piece . . .

More to follow as I get more information . . .

Take this thread to Cuba.

Talk about hijacking a thread, this thread was started by Fubu and is now taken over completely.

Yes, and FUBU wasn't doing anything to move this along so I have jumped in to assist . . . I'm providing updated and additional information. I don't really see that as a problem . . . Have you had your coffee yet this morning??

I think the problem with these grills isn't the quality of the work, it is the fact that they don't follow the design of the car. The car has shallow angles on each side, meeting at a central point, the original grill follows that design. The aftermarket grills need a crease in the center or something to indicate the center of the grill. As is it looks as if they were designed for another car and transplanted.

I agree, there is more to making these things than meets the eye. Fitting something with a small gap which is even all around is precision work. Any error is easily spotted and makes it all look cheesy. Just making something and saying that's good enough is not going to pass the requirements of those on the forum with high standards. If the bottom grilles are attached using plastic ties then that will fail also. The top grille should attach with the screws at the top and not have a flaky attachment at the bottom or this grille will end up as road kill.

This is not to my taste either for what that's worth, which is probably not even a pinch of you know what. The wire mesh grille has already reached over kill status.

Additional information . . .

In a message dated 9/25/2013 1:00:45 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, Karl Edmondson writes:

Hi hope you got my message off Facebook my email address is (censored) so please e mail your requirements. As I said previously the grilles are bespoke and at present the only ones in the world made that way are fitted to my vehicle. To make more the manufacturer needs to make a template off my car as mine were a one off. He usually makes them for Porsche. I need definite orders before I make the journey to the manufacturer as I will be there a full day whilst my car is measured up and templates made. I need to know quantities plus whether one grille is required or all three plus polished stainless steel or black.

Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me on the e mail address above.

Kind regards

Karl Edmondson

Hi Karl,

Yes I received your message through Facebook. THANK YOU for your prompt response. On behalf of multiple Crossfire owners here, please know that we are grateful for your unselfish willingness to assist us in pursuing the manufacture of these wire mesh grilles.

My current direction is to set up a "group buy" through the CrossfireForum.org that would have buyers sign up to make their purchase. Before I can do that I need to get price information from the manufacturer for various purchase quantities. Let's assume most buyer will want to purchase all three pieces but I need to know how much less it would be for "lower grilles delete" if a buyer only wanted to purchase the main upper grille unit. Also, when making templates we would like to ask that the manufacturer rework the lower arc of the upper grille to improve the fit somewhat (there appears to be noticeably larger gaps between the bumper and grille around the lower outer areas of the arc). Presuming that the polished stainless and the black stainless materials would be the same price, would you please ask the manufacturer to initially quote on producing an order for the following quantities:

10 units
15 units
20 units
25 units

Also at your convenience could you please e-mail me a few photos of your upper grille detailing it's mounting points to show us exactly how it is mounted / secured to the car (we know the lower grilles are tie wrapped in place).

In a message dated 9/25/2013 3:29:04 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, Karl Edmondson writes:

Hi Bob I'm not too sure about the gaps at the bottom you mention it could be the angle I took the photo. The issues we had initially was leaving a gap big enough to operate the bonnet catch. At one stage we figured maybe it couldn't be done as the original plastic grille had a recess to allow fingers in. It took a day and the technicians made a grille which worked. It may be the gap is uniform all the way round but the photos may portray it differently as I just pointed the camera and fired. The technicians are very exact so I cannot see there being an uneven gap but at the moment I'm abroad so cannot confirm that. The grille looks superb and the pictures do not do the car real justice. I loved my crossfire when I bought it but in my opinion having a cheap plastic grille fitted to the front spoiled the look. I have driven the car on motorways and when I come up behind the BMWs and Porsche they don't know what's behind them but move over ! With the Chrysler badge some people do say it looks like a Bentley. I will e mail the manufacturer and hopefully resolve the question of the appearance of the lower gap.

Regards

Karl Edmondson

You were RIGHT! There was a potential issue getting access to the secondary hood release but they apparently solved the issue in their design . . . (read post below this one) . . . I'm never too old or too smart to learn something new . . .

Thumbs up Re: SRT-6.com exclusive New Grille through Karl E.

I say old chap-this venture sounds like a load of old bollocks, claptrap or codswollop. (to use proper English terms).

If this deal is on the up and up then I'm a monkeys uncle.
Those grilles look as bespoke as my left nut. Apart from the thin edging they look little different than what you can get on eBay, though from the pictures the upper grille doesn't look right or fit correctly. If you need it in black that won't be a problem, just a can or two of flat black paint, no charge.

Sounds like someone fishing for a big order so they can unload a bunch of these "off shore" made gems. Ask where they are made.
I do love the personal touch "story" about the motorway. This guy's a Pro.
Good luck. Please feel free to prove me wrong.

You don't like this particular grille . . . WE GET IT!

The rest of your comments simply spotlight your obvious deficit in reading comprehension and present some convincing evidence that you may, in fact, be a monkey's uncle.

You failed to learn from the polite advice that was offered to you by forum member MoparFreak69. I strongly suggest that you take your negative attitude to another thread . . . better yet to another forum.

I am proud to give you a stiff one finger salute . . .

Apparently I was too polite to him. Let me try this again. Take your crappy Zetec lovin self and GTFA (go away in unkind terms). We can't all be as cool as an Escort, so maybe you should sell the Crossfire and stick to the beaters you know and love so much. You are not welcome in this thread. Your opinions still don't matter.

You don't have to agree with what I say or even like it, not a problem for me.
And yes I don't like the looks of the thing.

Quite apart from that, the deal being offered (by the seller) to you or who ever wants to buy this product smells fishy.
Feel free to prove me wrong, order and see what you get. Or save your self some time and just ask where the grille is made.
Have a nice day.

Just to add to the conversation. I made this one out of the aftermarket one that is currently available.
I am not offering to make them but you can get an idea what it would look like with a center spine in it to match the rib on the car.
