LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
Surely the wattage is determined by the resistance of the filament. (E x E) ÷ R = W
Long lasting filaments have a higher resistance and less light output.
I'm not too sure of what I say, maybe you can enlighten me.
What we need is Sparkie, he knows what wires will turn him into smoke.

Enlighten you? On Ohm's law for power in a DC circuit when voltage and resistance is known? Naw nothing to 'enlighten' you about there. What you should be doing is taking the Ohm's law for DC circuits for finding the UNKNOWN (resistance) and applying it to filaments that exist for automotive bulb use. Lets see, as a reference only (as system voltage varies with load and supply) lets use 12.5v at 100 watt output, we come up with approx 1.56 ohms. Now lets find out how much a filament would cost in this application in the gaseous environment necessary to not blow out with any reasonable time span. I don't think there is a known filament with this specification, but if someone who has these elcheapo bulbs would take a quality DVOM and report back here the bulbs resistance, we'll see how much actual power in watts these bulbs produce at the specified voltages applied.

( I'll also measure the OEM bulb )
I live but to serve ........ ( as I understand it, service earns you citizenship, right ? )
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
George, we seem to like a few things in common huh... I think you were saying the regular filament bulbs right? The LED sets are semiconductors, they will not follow the simple ohm's law for D/C circuits rules. Do you want to know more?
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
( BTW: you caught that reference correctly, Starship Troopers )
try this one :
These Chinese bulbs only come out at night, mostly ...
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
OK Geo, you got me on that one...
Do I havta do a google? LOL
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
They are very bright, i keep the origionals in the trunk so if i get pulled over i can swith them out to avoid a ticket.
I just tried to make some photo's with my phone but u can't see much on it, i can upload it if u want.
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
Dont think its no where near that bright. most new high end MBs the lexus, nissans etc come with these from the factory. So this is an update, all these incandescent bulbs will be a thing of the past soon.. the Crossfire is almost a fossil by now at least mine, a build date of 03
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
I'm loving mine

Sorry for the poor quality, but there pretty bright.
I bought them from this link:

Free shipping, it took 13 days to arrive from hongkong

Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
Also, for anyone wanting to further their LED conversion, I just listed a pair of 48 SMD red LEDs for the tail/brake lights. Accidentally ordered two pair. They look great in my car and are so much brighter than stock halogens. Check it out and PM me!
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
I'm local, what did they cost new?
Re: LED license plate bulb -- full assemblies
I went to the manual and grabbed all the part numbers for all of our lights, and when I went to that website mentioned they didnt have all of them. I ended up typing in the year make and model and it came up with a bunch of bulbs for us. I think Im going to convert everything I can to LED, I havent done anything yet.
