OK ... I got them and installed today. After prying out the first OEM assembly from the body and almost destroying it, I noticed that they were held in by 2 plastic springy clips at each end of the unit. that are part of the body of the unit. When taking out the other, all I did was gently pry up one end and push in with a thin electricians flat blade screwdriver, and compress the springy clip inward till the unit popped out at that end, and with gently pulling out at an angle let the other springy clip release its hold. Of course, when prying, the paint needs to be protected, so a small flat piece of wood served that need. With the advice of Gary (Valk), I made sure they worked before pushing them into the holes. Now I can't wait till dark. Just sayin .....

Edit: After thinking about it, it might be possible to release the springy thing by using an old credit card, instead of the electricians screwdriver

Remove the lens covers and screws first - the screws expand the "little springey clips" to make a secure bond to the tailgate / trunk openings .....

DUH..... I forgot to say, to the remove the lenses first. I did, but still were tough to get out. Besides ... I just looked at the OEM assemblies that came out of my car, and it seems that the screws for the lenses, have nothing to do with the springy things. Just sayin .....

I ended up breaking one of the clips from the OEM fixtures myself, so just in case, would I be able to buy them from somewhere?

I have a roadster, maybe they differ ?
I can definitely see where the screws go in between the inner and outer parts of the clips ... ( also just sayin ... )

I broke the clips on the stock ones taking them out. Doesn't matter, they were junk anyway. I re-used my LED bulb for the trunk light.

The LED assemblies are beautiful. It's like have headlights on the back of your car.

My apologies, I looked again a bit closer, and you are correct.

A hint to those that have not yet done the replacement :
press a popsicle stick into each side of the old units at the center and it will release the clips ( you could also probably use an old credit card )

WooooHoooooo! I got my el-cheapo (to those who pay more just because maybe it takes too long to search fleabay, if you have so much $ burning a hole in your pocket, PM me and I'll send you my paypal address. Lets call it a consult fee if it makes you 'feel' better...) 18 segment LED license plate lights today and installed them. The only mod I had to do was remove a little plastic "ear" off each one so it fit snugly into the opening. OMG are they BRIGHT! They actually light up the rear almost like a backup light! Very happy and satisfied, especially since I only paid $26.85 for the set DELIVERED! These things ROCK! And they look EXACTLY like the ones everyone else is purchasing.

We DEMAND pics then Graphite! Mine are retardedly bright in the back too, and it just looks so epic. Definitely going to put LEDs up in front by the little markers in the headlights.

I'm too chicken to mess with them bulbs, I figure they'll stay as they are until I have to go in there.

They are awesome. They really are like HID's for your plates. Incredibly easy to take them off as well. I hope they continue to function this way. Will update after use. I wouldn't hesitate in getting them though.

I know for a fact Maxcichon knows how to change them out, so you could shoot him a message if you wanna do it and have some epic LEDs up front.

The eyebrow bulbs aren't that hard :
use a long ( 6" or better ) 10mm or 11mm open end wrench to reach in there and turn the wrench with a screwdriver or something through the closed end of the wrench.
I changed mine out to LEDs in about 5 minutes.

BTW Ghost - if you wanna wait, I have 10 of those on the way from China, should show up in a week or 2 with luck, I'll send you a couple.
( I'm gonna replace all the side marker light bulbs with the LEDs also - I paid just $12.50 for the 10 5 LED canbus bulbs )

Use the creditcard, i didn't and 1 old assembly broke, not that i really care about it..

Ordered the same as most people here, only €22 or $28, didn't even had to pay any importing costs.
Took the mail 11 days to get them here from Hongkong.

Look great hope it gets dark soon
