Question Replace entire tail light assembly?

Got my preowned 05 Crossfire last weekend. Went to have it inspected so I could title it and Dobbs told me I had to replace the entire tail light assembly because it was out and it's all one piece. Couldn't just replace a bulb. Told me it was going to be $400. Yikes. And to top it off it's nationally backordered according to the near by Chrysler Dealership.

My question is does this sound right? Must I replace the whole thing or can you replace just part of the LED's? Anyone know of a direct buyer's club or anything other than the dealership? Thanks for you help.

Are you talking about the 3rd brake liight assy? If so, I would make sure that voltage gets there first. Could be a connector or wiring issue

Be more precise with your questions, you know what you mean but we have to fill in the gaps.

The high brake light can be fixed with some effort by replacing the LED's, search here for the answer.

The regular lights just need a bulb change.

Welcome to the forum, lots of answers here.

If you are looking for the 3rd light assembly for a coupe, I have one already out. PM me if that is what you need.

Ok, Nub here with this car. Turns out it is the 3rd brake light and it does light up just a little bit. No where near where it needs to be to pass the Missouri Auto Inspection. I will do more specific searches because I now I've seen the 3rd brake light mentioned several times. Thanks for your help.

You still didn't mention if you have a coupe or convertible. The coupe uses bulbs for the center brake light, and the convertible uses an LED system. James

Sorry. I have the convertible limited. The light lights up just a bit. Hardly noticable. Certainly not enought to pass an inspection.

Most owners do just get an entire replacement. However, "man made it, man can fix it". Check out this link to get some additional info:
