Default Tail light bulb! Oops!!

Hey to the XF community,

Got an issue with the tail light bulb, seems to have completely fallen through.

It's is currently caught between the outer casing and the access panel. Tried tape to my finger, tape to a wire hanger, but the hole's too small.. wont let me drag the bulb back out. Used a magnet n it was a failed attempt too.

What do I do?.. No attempt to remove the access panel yet [dnt know how..] or go to the dealer, I like learning how to take care of the XF myself b4 resorting to the em. Got a Roadster, so throwing the top up usually works for a quick replacement, but this is a 1st for me..

Help is much appreciated!

Thanks

P.S. I dont like it when bad things happen to my Crossfire !!!!

3 nuts hold the tail light assembly in, easy to remove using same tonneau up method as bulb replacement.
Would this help ?

If you have a convertable, you can easily reach the area where the rear lights are if you lift the roof deck up right before the top goes down into the trunk area.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE WITH YOU IF YOU DO THIS! The hydrolics will time out and drop the hatch after about 10 minutes.

Make sure someone is holding it when you work on it or reach in.

Yea I was wanting to replace the reg brake bulbs to LED's and I dropped the bulb in the housing. I tried to reach through the top in half open position, saving me some time, but then the stupid hatch starts falling. Just suck it up and remove the lining in the truck with a pair of needle nose pliers. I takes awhile, but you can easily reach the bulbs and remove the tail light assembly if necessary. I left the self tapping screws out of the trunk lining so if I ever need access to the bulbs again it's an easy process of removing the 2 panels on each side.
