Installed Super Bright LED Daytime Running Lights
Installed Super Bright LED Daytime Running Lights
Inspired by forum member SteveDask, I have installed Super Bright LED lights (side mounted version) around the exterior bezel of the headlights. The 24" LED strips are self adhered (3M) to the headlights between the headlight and the rubber perimeter seal and are virtually undetectable by eye when not lit. I also decided to remove my Canadian Headlight switch to regain manual control over all the lights by re-installing my original US switch.
The new LED's are automatically turned on with the ignition and will remain on even when the headlights, parking lights are used.
Here are a few pics both daytime/nightime.

Hang on to the light switch though.

I still want to disect both the US and Cdn switches to see whats different internally. Externally they are exact except one is made in Hungary and the other Germany.
The LED's can be easily moved, removed or replaced as well so I may be playing around with other products when/if they hit the market.

Re: Installed Super Bright LED Daytime Running Lights
Thanks, to both Steves! I knew that the Steve D had mentioned specifically to get the side firing LEDs but I forgot to ask him for details when I saw him two weeks ago.
Regardless, I have just placed my order for them and expect to have them on before springtime.
Great on the IDEAL brake pads, Steve. I sent a Christmas message to the manufacturer and he sent back a note stating that he believes that we are ready to finalize what was discussed. Did you get a good price? Was it what I stated in the spreadsheet?
Speak soon.

They were the two countries on mine. As I mentioned I think the difference is probably all in the fuse part of the unit, it would be nice if the simple addition of a relay would convert it to DRL's.
Rudy should know, I think he took off this part on TonyGG's light switch at Woodward last year. I had mine loose but did not want to force it, so I chickened out.

Okay, and thanks.. didn't think if you used a flash it would light them up like that. Most of what I've looked at indicated taping down to your headlight which I find unacceptable, but if these are pretty well hidden along the sideline you might have just talked me into them! Have a Great New Years eve!

Re: Installed Super Bright LED Daytime Running Lights
Thanks! for sharing this mod. I have wanted to add DRL (Daylight Running Lamps) to my Crossfire (and other vehicles) for a while, they just make great sense to me (even if Chrysler and Ford, etc. choose not to spend the $ on original equipment, thanks GM), particularly now with the shortest Michigan daylight.
How did you decide to wire yours? You have been clear that yours are on 'all the time' when the car is running, even when headlights or parking lamps are on. Where did you tap in? And, what other options did you, or others, consider? Shutting them down when headlights and / or parking lamps are on may look good, or save a bit of energy.
Thanks again!
