3,000K yellow fogs installed tonight.
I have a 5,000k (white) bulb in the passenger side and a 6,000k (blue) bulb on the driver's side. Once the headlight retaining clip comes in I'll swap the 6,000k for a 5,000K.
The 3,000k's along with ballast were just taking up space, so I decided to put them to use. They are pretty bright, but I suspect they are going to melt the fog light lenses if I use them liberally. Has anyone had that happen?
Here's the parking lights with fogs only:

Here's with the headlights on as well. They are pretty bright, but the cut-off will keep me from blinding oncoming traffic.

Re: 3,000K yellow fogs installed tonight.
I just installed 55w 3k Fogs into mine and it left some kind of residue on the inside of my driver side fog lense. Getting it replaced, but maybe they are too hot for the lense?
My passenger side fog lense is ok though. Although the 55w are so much brighter though.

I ran 55w, 3000k yellow fogs for about 2 years with no problem. Some time ago when I installed the Halos, I did notice the lens was dirty inside and I cleaned them. Not sure if it was from the yellow bulbs or not.

PS These were standard yellow bulbs, not HID.

Re: 3,000K yellow fogs installed tonight.
55W fogs have a possible chance of melting the fog light housing, but not the lenses.. For that reason, you should not install anything over 35W in the fog light housing, not to mention that the fog light housing disperses light instead of focusing it, making it a hazard to oncoming traffic. (ALSO, if you do a 55W install anywhere, add a relay...)
I dunno if i like the yellow fogs to be honest (if thats ok to be!!!)... I find that yellow lighting can often be misinterpreted as old or problemed lighting... I usually install 8k lows and fogs or 6k lows and fogs...
Im curious, who would like to see a 6k low with an 10k fog? It makes sense considering a 10k will produce less light which is ideal for a fog light scenario.
Btw Grip... you have installed more mods in like the last 2 weeks that Ive installed in the last 2 years haha..

The lower Kelvin rating of yellow fogs (3,000K) allows visibility w/o the glare... which is the point of having foglights on in the first place. Living in Tennessee, fog is a major deal with all of our valleys, lakes, and streams. Any low-light situation absent of fog would simply warrant the use of low-beams in the headlight assembly... Any additional lighting is basically overkill.
If your preference leans towards form following function, then the yellow fogs are a match made in heaven with your styling tastes. Folks that hate yellow generally forego them for brighter lights, but at the expense of ultimate visibility in the conditions where you genuinely need them.
Different strokes...

Here's an interesting read on the subject:
"Why Are Fog Lights Yellow?
By David Baugher, eHow Contributor
Despite common assumptions, the yellow color of fog lights does not improve visibility in fog.
Misconceptions
The belief that yellow fog lamps contribute to superior lighting in foggy conditions is based on a misinterpretation of physical laws about the behavior of light which hold that colors at the shorter wavelength end of the spectrum disperse more easily in interactions with small particles. Longer wavelength colors like yellow were thought to be less subject to this effect.
Reality
In fact, the large size of fog droplets negates any significant difference in scattering effects among colors.
Filtering
"Yellow" fog lights are actually just filtered white lights. Since the filtering naturally reduces the emission of light, it does not boost its power to cut through mist.
Origins
The use of yellow as a color for fog lights may have started because of a genuine misunderstanding about its ability to illuminate foggy roads. After that it may have simply become traditionally accepted. An alternate theory holds that yellow is associated with danger and indicates hazardous conditions.
Conclusion
Car experts Tom and Ray Magliozzi recommend white fog lights as an alternative to yellow.
