Default top windshield trim

I was driving my '05 limited roadster at about 75 mph on I-75 today and heard a loud "thump". When I got home, I saw that the top piece of the window trim was gone. WTF? It looks like I will have to spend $300 or $400 to replace. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes and I am assuming the thump was not a pedestrian hitting the windshield.

Are you sure it wasn't a pedestrian? Those old people don't move out of way quick enough in Florida.

I was doing about 75mph headed south on the 429 when it happened on my 04 SSB Coupe. I found a used piece here on the forum and had it repainted. It took a little time but in the end I spent just under $200.00. Good luck!

Happened to me yesterday as I was driving down I-75 in Troy MI. I was blowing the doors off a prius and heard a Loud Thump! I thought I ran something over, or lost a piece of the car, or killed an animal. After pulling off the freeway and inspecting the car, everything seemed normal so I drove home.... that is when I noticed the trim had come off and put a nice scratch in the roof....

After a quick search on craigslist, I found a guy parting out and rebuilding a crossfire. I picked up the new trim an hour after I lost my original. I needed to epoxy a clip on because it was loose, but I am happy to report that the new trim is on, and looks great.

Be careful at high speed, because this piece is known to fly off!

and NEVER pay 400 bucks for a piece of plastic, that's not worth it at all.

Also if you make sure the clips are squeezed tight the trim will stay on. I have had mine off several times and driven 140+ and never had the windshield trim come off........I did have my front grill leave my car going fast .....but that is another issue.

I too lost a grill. I've been in the 145 range many times and never had a problem with the WS trim. Knock on wood.

I learned that when the windscreen is replaced the tabs don't break but they don't hold very well when replaced I never had problems with mine untill i had to have the windscreen replaced it wasn't but 5 days later and same deal it blew off going about 75 with loud thump. I contacted dr glass and he found and replaced it with a new one at no charge to me. He said it's common on alot of cars Cadillacs in particular.

unfortunatly i only have both side trims i had to replace mine about 5 months ago to be honest i was going a little faster than 75. it took about a month or so to find a set the forum really helped with this. when i snappped it back on i was sure to put some jb weld on the inside i dont think it will go anywhere again!!!!!

Unhappy Re: top windshield trim

Noticed my drivers side and top trim windshield trim is loose, I need to fix this before my 300+ miles trip to the dragon. Has anyone got directions of how best to take the trim carefully off and then repair and replace it?
I looked under the trim by lifting it up slightly and can see that a couple of the clips have come unglued from the trim. I am assuming that I can carefully remove it somehow and then epoxy the clips back onto the trim and re attach.
Has anyone done this and how easy is it. Anyone have any pictures of the process.
Just for fun I priced it at a Hendricks dealer today and they quoted $1100 for the three pieces fitted I nearly fell over.
I really don't want to loose this on I40.

I removed mine with a PLASTIC wrecking bar, as they call it. A plastic pry bar can be wedged against the windshield, under the trim and pryed upward until it pops. Then move another 12" or so and work another area loose. The top piece must be removed before either of the sides. I think that JB Weld would hold the clips back on the trim pieces just fine.
