I know you can take the car to a dealer and they can order the key. My local dealers have quoted me around $180 to get this done. Mercedes keys are cut in Fort Worth, TX, so it shouldn't have to go to Germany. Just make sure you don't pay the dealer to program the key when you can do it yourself for free.

The Chrysler dealer said they can not cut the xfire keys and have to order it from Germany, maybe I should check with Mercedes...thought I saw a blank key for sale on ebay for a xfire??

My understanding is that it is possible that the eBay keys can be cut to open the door, and the remote can be programmed to open the door, but there is no RF chip in it to start the car. The cheapest key that will start your car and open your doors that I've found is here (~ $135):

Yeah, I had one dealer tell me that too. It is BS. They order the keys from Mercedes, but they are cut in Fort Worth, TX.
