Will you sell these unpainted? If so, how much? My car is being repainted and I'm using House of Kolor's Kosmic Krome on the strakes, handles, and windshield surround. So I would want to spray these myself.

Sorry no real dates for you guys yet. I dropped off the master parts to my manufacturer over the weekend. They said they were pretty backed up so it may be a few days before they get to the strakes.

I hope to have a sample unit by tomorrow night. I will let you know as soon as I find out anything further

ZOk I spoke with the manufacturer this evening. I will be receiving a sample unit tomorrow afternoon.

Once I receive it I will post pics up immediately. Anyone who wants in on this first batch must speak up before Friday morning at 9am. I am calling in the final order quantity at that time.

I will be picking up the units on Monday morning and taking them to my painter. They will be done by the end of next week and ready for shipment. I hope to have them all sent out by Friday afternoon.

Im having to change the material from abs to fiberglass. The company i have been working with on this has now broken three of my molds and i cannot continue to throw away money buying molds for them to break. I have a company that will produce quality fiberglass pieces for me but is much more expensive. I am not going to raise the price for you guys since i have aleady quoted a price. I am now trying to get a finished sample made in fiberglass and will let you know once i receive it along with pics

Well, that just sucks that you are running into these problems. I know it must be extremely frustrating for you. Good luck with the fiberglass route, and thanks for all of your efforts.

What material is their mold made of? I have quite a bit of experience around plastics through working at Nissan over the years... typically, TPE (Thermo Plastic Elastomer) plastics work best for injection molding. ABS is very brittle and non-compliant once set. TPE can be soft, stretchy, and flexible, or hard and rigid depending on the mixture of crystalline and amorphous polymers used.

Here are some other tidbits...

Comparison Table for Plastics.

TPE? Thats OK for soft, flexible and semi flexible parts but side strakes ..... no.

I designed plastic molds for 35 years or so and still do once in a while.

ABS is a bit over the top for an OEM part ($$$$) but OK here even if a little awkward to mold.

An aluminum mold is cheap and fine for a short run part like this. It has just got to be thick enough to take the injection pressure.

What kind of manufacturing process where you talking about?

Three molds broken in less than three days? Hmmmm. how can you make molds that fast?

Now fiber glass? It needs a different kind of mold and the parts need to be trimmed.

What's up with this scene?

I hope your name is not Dan.

I am just relaying information given to me. I made the master part.. (the picture of the black and white strake held in my hand) I gave that to the manufacturer to make whatever kind of mold they needed. I dont know how or what they make the molds out of.

I am now having another company take my part to do a CAD and have a mold made that they will use to lay up the fiberglass.

AND NO! MY NAME IS NOT DAN! lol. Its Jordon

Sorry again for yet another delay. I wish things like this could just go smoothly but that doesnt seem to be the case. It is all very frustrating
