Default Gas Pump Touching Paint

Hello,

I've searched the forum and couldn't find anyone else saying anything about this so I was wondering how you hold the gas pump nozzle when filling up your crossfire. If you put the nozzle down like you normally would it touches the paint. I'm thinking of using some clear vinyl that I stock at work to put at the point were the pump would touch the paint, I just hate to do it because I'd say it will stand out and look weird. Suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Just for some reference it is a 2005 red limited coup and I fill up at BP.

Thanks,
Cory

You don't have to stick the nozzle all the way in. As long as you actually stand there and hold the handle you can keep it off the paint. Just stick the nozzle in until it gets past the little flap near the top of the filler neck and pull the trigger.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that next time, I always wash the windshield when I fill up so thats why i stick it all the way in, now it'll take me another whole minute.

Thanks,
Cory

I noticed that too at some stations. We could just grab a paper towel and place it between the handle and the body.

Here is what you need:

FuelGuard - Exterior Accessories - Car Accessories - Griot's Garage

I bought one just after getting the car. It rolls up and tucks just below the gas cap and does not interfere with closing the cover.

Its a car, I fill it up and spend my time figguring out how to pay for it. Never noticed the gas nozzel thing, life is too short to worry about little things.Woody

Here is the type I use on my diesel truck and the 6. They're absorbent and when they get ugly you just change em out. When you're done filling, just stuff em in, no fuss.Even on the diesel it looks fine after 2 years or so (but I'm pretty careful). Comes in quantity of (5) or (10).
