Default Dome Map Light question

Well long story short one of my dome lights is out so i go to auto zone get the light pull the plastic and take the old light out, well then i try to put the new light back in but it seems that there is no actual socket. I then pull out the whole piece and i still see no socket...so is there a part number for that or will i just have to live with it?

Austin, I am having trouble figuring out exactly what you mean by your statement. I would recommend you check out the 'sticky' in the lighting section, it walks through replacing the map light (dome) bulbs with LEDs but it should show you everything you need. Hope this helps.

If the end of the new bulb looks like the end of the old bulb there should not be a problem.

I agree.... I think you just need to pull the screws holding the assembly in and pull it out.... I also see that the side that has a socket is craked on both sides.... be carefull not to break it further......

The tan piece in picture 1 is the socket. You removed it when you untwisted the bulb, and it is still on your old bulb. Pull it off and insert your new bulb into it. Then twist it back on.

If you lost it, go here:

Get the T10S-TW Twist Locks for $1.19 a piece.

Never knew it looked like this before. The pictures really make the question answerable.

thanks for the quick replies, last night i took out the entire piece but did not see the socket. Today i took it out again and started reaching around in the headliner and it was about 2 inches in the headliner. Needless to say it is fixed and working great.
