Headlight lens crazing & clouding 2006 Roadster
Headlight lens crazing & clouding 2006 Roadster
Bought a 2006 Roadster with low mileage. Only has 12,000 miles now.
Since it was not put into service until 2008, still under warranty
The headlight lenses are crazing and clouding at the top.
I took it to the dealer and he says he cannot do anything about it.
I think under warranty he should just replace it and be done with it.
I've read a lot of similar complaints.
Has anyone out there had the same issue and successfully resolved it?

Had mold starting in the high beams...replace whole assembly. When you go this route, ask them to give you the retaining clips and caps as you can't buy just those parts and they could come in handy.

Politely tell your dealership that unless its fixed you will not be coming back. You did them a favor by taking the car out of their hands so its payback time.
With lights like that it's only worth half the normal price, so if you cannot get it fixed I'll buy it from you sight unseen.

Thats not that bad as far as headlights go, you could wetsand them and fix the issue yourself and bypass the stealership
also, the reason headlights do this, is they arent maintained... a good coat of cleaner wax 1-2 times a month keeps headlights uv damage free

Re: Headlight lens crazing & clouding 2006 Roadster
Isn't there a TSB or something that the dealer has about hazzing or delaminating of the head lamps ? ( I'm sure theres someting in the forum about this ) I know thats how I got mine replaced for delamination, everyone here is correct you should try another dealer, or start the ladder Service manager, General manager, Owner, Factory warranty rep etc. the dealer really should be replacing them with no hassles.

Those are pretty bad, as bad as I've seen. Even if the dealer replaces them they still tend to etch and haze over time. Infinite is right, you have to maintain them once you get them right. You can try the Meguiars kit, those definitely need the sanding treatment. Once you get them right you'll still need to wax them often. Even then you will get haze and etching. Mine get waxed monthly and shot with detail spray every week after I wash the car. They still etch after a few months and I pull out the buffer and the Plastx. 5 minutes with an Lake County Orange cutting pad, the PC and the Plastx and they are good as new. Probably do it this weekend as a matter of fact.

When you do get them sorted out (Replaced or fixed), you may want to think about having 3M film installed on them. It protects them from road grit and bugs so they do not get that sparkle look to them. DIY kits are like $50 for both and they are cut to fit. All you need is some soapy water and a plastic squigy. I had mine done 2 years ago. It is great stuff!
Good luck!

Re: Headlight lens crazing & clouding 2006 Roadster
After going to the third dealership I found a new one that was glad to replace my crazed lens. The lens were on back order and it took about 5 weeks to get them, but it was worth it. If in Nashville go to Gary Matthews Chrysler Jeep, they were very helpful.
